DoNotInsertIntoMouth
Definitely going to be disappointed if Town Hall retires and this one doesn't. The Pet Shop, Town Hall, and GE are all sort of doing the same thing here. They aren't all going for sure.

They aren't all going for sure. why not? maybe TLG is getting lean and mean cutting down on these bloated underpriced overpieced exclusives from 2010-2012 to force people to buy the newer modulars/sets. we're 70 days away from 2015. its not like people are suddenly going to stop buying lego's if they retire these because they are so mad or anything like that. it'll just be the QFLL's who get caught with one or none because the chart said the set wasn't going to retire until 2016. wm order from 10/16 still in processing...... i wonder if processing means jumping up and down on.... It's doubtful because LEGO wouldn't just cut such a large portion of a VERY POPULAR theme in one go. (Obviously, I don't have facts on sales but it's hard to believe otherwise) They probably won't retire half the sets we are discussing. Come on people - T1 Camper, Sopwith Camel, GE, TH, HH, PS, Orthanc, etc. all in the same few months?? Unless LEGO is attempting to alienate their AFOL community and piss off a portion of the TFOL population who are saving up for pricier sets, I'm pretty sure we can expect 3 from the list that I just named tops. The odds of all of the sets being modulars is pretty low at that. Several experienced members (as well as some with insider information), have given their opinions, and the arrows definitely don't point to three modulars.
Cross
Agreed that they aren't all going at once, but I think we should all be prepared for changes in previously-established/assumed patterns. Retail space is extremely expensive; Lego B&M's are in high-profile areas catering to a well-funded audience (example: Lego shops being between a Coach store and a Gucci store). If a set is not generating consistent revenue, it will be replaced by one that will. Ex: T1 makes money hand over fist; thus it is not dying according to "plan". TH is a massive set, eating an enormous amount of retail shelf space, and has hardly moved. It's must-have now, but nobody gave a flip about it even three months ago. There is a ton of new product coming from TLG in 2015. A ton. That freed-up shelf space will come at the cost of a lot of sets currently presumed as "safe". Cross
I did too! LOVE the TH, and disappointed at how little noise has been created by it, until now. Until it's done.
M4x18
'Available Now' at LEGO Shop at Home EU. Seems the tide went down once the craze went over to the TH.

chipbee
Europe LEGO Shop at Home shows available but when you clicked on item, you will see GE OOS with expected shipping date of 20 Nov. I think this set is about done.
Flemdog33
Prices slowly rising at Amazon. Been watching it go from $200 to $215 now very slowly. I'm waiting for it to be really done and gonna have to wait out a ton of sellers IMO.

Ensche
As long as you're able to order it, the orders will be fulfilled, usually... otherwise the product is tagged with "sold out"

Any ideas? Totally depends on your financial situation and available storage space. It's generally believed that GE will be a great investment, but there are lots of great investment sets. Personally, I'd branch out and get some of the other sets that are approaching retirement just to broaden my "portfolio", but I doubt you'd regret having more GEs. Any ideas? caution before you go knee deep on Legos and buy 10s and 100s of thousand $ of Legos. Try selling few. Selling is a lot harder and it may not be what you might be thinking. Untill you are able to sell it's just boat load of plastic and cardboard box. It might look good on paper but the time and effort it goes on it is something you have to account as well. Make yourself comfortable with the whole aspect of buying and selling otherwise you are going to have a lot more than that can be handled.

But I hope you focus on your academics first. If you can get a scholarship into a good college it will be worth much more than what you can make in two years off of 50 GEs. On a side note, I'm a believer in town hall going byebye. Good luck!
Deejay
I don't think GE will do very good after EOL. It's been bought too many by people and much more by Lego investors.

Disagree, but it will take more time thanks to the huge attention it got and the just-in-time batch created by TLC.

JM123
I have mixed feelings about GE. I think it will of course be a winner and certainly long-term this thing will give a nice return. It is hoarded big time, so the first years I don't expect huge profits and it will go EOL as expected, so I don't expect that it will be a short-term easy flip. Best case scenario (short-term and long-term) will be a set that is not expected to go EOL and is part of a very popular theme (modulars for example). That's why my money is on TH.
