No thread is safe from BTC......SMGDH

It'll be all the rage soon enough.  You can shake your head when you realised you should bought in two years from now. ;-)  If I'd bought them for the same outlay instead of CITY vehicles two years ago, a Bugatti Veyron would be my runabout and I'll keep the other car for special occasions.

Meanwhile, back on planet Earth....

I've loaded up on GE but, they are still very widely available in the UK in huge quantities but, the Pet Shop isn't.

It would be funny if Lego just retired them out of order to screw with everyone.

I actually have more pet shops - just because Amazon Warehouse.

Nooooo :)  GE first to go please.  Not to get into another debate, I just think Lego can sell a lot more PS if they don't retire it first obviously.  If you retire PS 'early' than you potentially miss out on future sales.  Lego's got to keep it fresh.  They are not out to screw/mess with people.  They will sell GE's, PS's, TH's etc etc...very well and don't need to do anything except stick to their plan.  Has any modular retired 'early' before an older building?  Probably not.  I just don't see the trend changing.  We're probably just over analyzing it is my two cents...but I could be wrong.  Thankfully I got two 2 PS coming in a trade (Rovers) with Pseudoty at least if something weird happens with pending modular retirements.

Nice on the 7501 posts and new 'Chief Brick Officer' minifig :)  Geez, that's a lot of posting!

Personally the only word I`ve ever taken from a Manager to be accurate is in relation to the stock physically in (or not) the store. "Oh we have lots in the back" or "Currently don`t have any of ___ whatever". That`s all they know, sometimes a bit in relation to what they will be getting in stock (they have forms and are given info from Lego about incoming stock, but it`s not always accurate). That`s it, there is no way any staff working in a Lego store know more than some of us here. Unless they are reading on the side, which I`m sure is the case with some, but they definitely are not more informed than some members here.  I usually just make small talk whilst shopping/filling PAB containers and don`t ask about anything else (unlike in years past). It`s not worth it, and it`s very rare they tell me something I don`t already know.

No kidding! He`s a generous guy, that`s a good thing, but not in this case

First of all, I posted with tongue firmly planted in cheek, but I also did a poor job of explaining my numbers I didn't mean that a manager had a 45% of knowing whether a set was going EOL or not, only that their info was about 45% more reliable than a baseline random BPer. Ergo+100% would just mean they were twice as likely to be correct--not that they were 100% likely to be correct--so +45% isn't really that much. Just knowing more about the in-store selling patterns gives them an edge. I also didn't say that they were +45% over the strongest BPers. The high-rollers around here probably get +200% or more. :-)

Picked up a GE LegoLand Discovery Center Schaumburg had one left on the shelf. Not sure if they have any in back only one I saw on the shelf. Used my membership brought it to $147.00. Now have 2 NISB 1 open sealed bags and a used one on hold for me. Gf has one on display also.

Came there for a surprise for me and my gf I've been putting together all the winter village sets was gonna surprise her with village market. Found me a surprise instead

I just picked up a GE from Lego store in Vancouver. There was 3 left on the shelf and some in the back.

Looks like people in your city don't know what lego is. 3 left on the shelf and more in the back??? You must be kidding me. What's stopping you from buying all of them?

I have been away for the week, up in the north of England. Took the opportunity to pop into the new Lego store in Newcastle. They had two GEs on the shelf.

And Barrel Escapes at 30% off. I resisted those.

Looks to be a good store but the biggest problem I had was getting into the Metro Centre, who designed that road system?! You can't find the entrances to the car park!

I've set myself a quota of 4. Also I don't want to blow my wad all on one set, I need to do some diversification.

I've only just started seriously doing long term investing and my budget is limited so I wouldn't mind picking up some different sets/themes. I'm doing this more to offset the cost of collecting.

It's all part of the master plan! But I will kick myself if they go through the roof in the secondary market.

You'll be kicking yourself soon enough. Look at the FB after 6 months EOL. At least get one more with another polybag shredder. What a deal....

Dude/dudet looked at recent sold listings of ge. At that point 're-allocate funds from other sets to the ge. You will thank me.

Do you think I'll have issues with TLG if I pick more up. I've read about the banning of accounts on here but with that said this is the first time I've bought this many of one set.

Also I'm paying full Canadian retail so the FB numbers aren't as impressive to me (ATM) as it is for Americans.

Stick to your plan and what you are comfortable with.. Yes the GE should do nicely but so will other sets. Dont over stretch your budget.
