Migration
Got it, I never had anything other than space sets when I was a kid. Missed all the old castle, pirates, and city. It's a cool ship.

vincevaughn
Oh man black seas baracuda! Always wanted that one as a kid to go with my skull's eye schooner. Very nice, I imagine that one is for your collection?

Achilles
I paid $65 for it, not a steal by any stretch, but a solid price. Yea, going to hang on to it for now. I have all the other sets from the 1989 Pirates wave from my youth, this was the only one I didn't have. (Too pricey ) I know I am in the vast minority, but when the 2nd tier came out, I didn't like how they personalized the minifigures so much more. Part of me liked the generic soldiers and such. I think too much detail in the legos took away some of the "imagination" factor, for me anyway. It also coincided with my teenage years, so that may have played a factor as well. Little did I know what was to come.
@rtisan
$65 is nothing to complain about! That`s a wonderful set, and a must have for any Pirate fan, or Lego fan in general. Awesome find!
supergman
Wow, I have one, too, from the early 80's or whenever it was. My son has it now. Ah, the memories!

That was the death knell of classic pirates :(
