Future sets, themes, or licenses you would like to see

Recommended Posts

That's probably my biggest complaint about the City line. There's not enough of a real city for my likes. The farm and mine stuff is cool. Arctic? Cool, but that's not a city.

I want a bank, and homes, and a park and a zoo and all the other stuff that make up a real city.

You said "make up." Hehehe Edited by dcdfan

It will never happen.. but the Road Warrior and Mad Max would be "that" series, i'd spend a lot of money on getting every set and making sure my closet was stuffed full with interceptors for investment.  Could just imagine the possibilities.

  • The Pig Stye with Master and Max  "Who runs barter town".
  • UCS version of Thunderdome with a Tina Turner and Blaster
  • Lord Humongous with his Dune Buggy and captives tied to the front (technic set overload)
  • Of course, the Interceptor.
  • The oil rig

That would be a start.

I asked this in the LEGO Dimensions thread, but I'll ask it here, too:

Is the addition of The Wizard of Oz to the LEGO Dimensions signaling the arrival of The Wizard of Oz license to general sets?  Will we see Oz sets?  Will we get minifigure (or minidolls?).

It seems odd that this has completely flown under the radar.  I'm curious, and I know my wife is excited at the idea.

I don't know about official sets as LEGO did reject the CUUSOO/Ideas project after reaching review status a while back and there could have been a number of deciding factors for the decision which for all we know may have included the now known Dimensions product. In the trailer you can spot Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tin Woodsman, and Cowardly Lion following the yellow brick road. Now while we probably will not see a full-blown Wizard of OZ theme, however I wouldn't put it past them to release Fun Packs with those key characters. Perhaps not what we were hoping to see but I'll take what I can get. Give me some minifigures and I'll work out the rest of the scene.

I had forgotten about the CUUSOO/Ideas project, but I'm convinced now more than ever, it's related to this.  I guess we'll just have to wait and see what's coming down the pick.  Of all the figures to include, the Wicked Witch of the West seems like an odd choice to start with.  But, maybe there will be some combo pack of the others down the (yellow brick) road.

She is an odd choice but perhaps they wanted to also give the aspect of playable villains & villainess'. Also there was a Witch in Series 2 of the Minifigures line so in a way LEGO already made her kind of and this gives another chance for those who missed out I guess. Still I would have figured either Dorothy or Glenda being introduced but then again the Wicked Witch has great potential to do things. On a personal note I would like to see Tik-Tok of OZ.

Perhaps they took the popularity of Wicked (the Broadway show) into consideration ?  Regardless, the Wicked Witch and Winged Monkey are pretty iconic part of Wizard of Oz

I wouldn't rule out a Wizard of Oz theme as IDEAS serves as a demand indicator for LEGO. The license was already pretty sure under way back then (development of these games is at least 2 years from scratch). The IDEAS project was fated to be rejected since it would require a substantial amount of new moulds, however a small theme (like Pirates) is not completely out of question in my opinion.

I would like to see a fishing theme. Not somesome boring fly fishing crap! I mean a trawler or crab boat. I spent my youth building trawlers (grew up in a fishing village), some of the older boats from the 60s and 70s are very aestically pleasing. The modern trawlers are a marvel of engineering! I can imagine the power functions for the winches, derricks and netdrums!

Lego could do deadliest catch, I'm sure it would have a good following in the American market. Maybe a UCS northwestern?

Something similar to Friends but extended to all genders rather than exclusively targeted to the female audience, sort of rich kids, high society,BCBG.

So exagerrated it would be ridiculous, with its crooners, slobs, drama divas, slaggers, chads, yolos and valley girls, in essence, pick the minifig trendsetter

and use her "world" to define the theme. Can't wait to see TLC pull a show with some parodies of reality TV if they make such theme one day.

I know the popularity has waned of late, but I'd really love to see a line of Battletech (you may know it from the MechWarrior video game franchise).  Built-in story lines and factions, plenty of minifig-scaled build opportunities from smaller scout 'mechs (like Raven and Flea) all the way up to assault 'mechs like the Atlas or Daishi, which would be great UCS sets.  Pricing would even correspond to the weight classes (i.e. a 45-ton Shadow Cat could sell well at $45, while a Mad Cat Mk II assault mech's 90-ton chassis would require enough parts to justify a $90 price tag).

This also brings in tank models, buildings with defense turrets, planes and helicopters, and even the Solaris dueling arenas.

Tell me it wouldn't look cool to have a Vulture with a dozen or more of the spring-loaded missiles let loose.

Penny Dreadful! A Billie Piper minifig? are you kidding me...

May I, instead, respectfully request a life-sized UCS Billie Piper?

This area might be a good place to start. ;) On the sense of being mainly 'mech-on-mech' action, I don't see the line going against their "no real world violence" rule especially compared to Star Wars. That second illustration by artist Shimmering Sword with a Sunder gunning down soldiers might be frowned upon by LEGO even though it isn't much different than the Galaxy Squad troopers shooting at those alien buggoids. In any case there is so many mechs to choose from to where such a theme could go on long as Star Wars has.

Mm...  I'd like to see Red Dwarf.  Lister and Rimmer,  Kryten, The Cat and Holly on a mining ship lost in space one million years into the future. Star Trek, yes definitely but that's not going to happen.

How about Megamind?  I had my hopes up for a sequel with Will Farrell and Tina Fey but Dreamworks killed any hope of a return.

If Starbucks can turn into a adult themed exotic entertainment center and Costco churns out law degree diplomas, and the leader of the U.S. a very famous machine gun toting ex-WWE wrestler, why not????

Wait a minute, I would love to see a Idiocracy set as well!

I know they have that rule for the majority of their product lines, but they can't claim clean hands and still have the Star Wars line, one that I am sure is among their most profitable themes.  Decapitations (Windu vs. Jango Fett or Anakin vs. Dooku), shooting with blasters (Leia alone is a mass murderer), throwing people off platforms with the force so they fall to their deaths (Rebels), etc.  At least most of the mech-on-mech violence (even in the novels) for battletech involves pilots ejecting before their 'mechs blow up.

I'm a pretty hardcore OCD person, so taking pieces out of sets to make a custom build would drive me crazy, but I can't get the ideas out of my head for how I would try to assemble those metal beasts to minifigure scale.

Why do I suddenly feel the need for a latte with extra foam?

Beavis & Butthead theme.  Nah, nevermind.  All the minifigs would look the same.

Elder Scrolls series sets?  The possibilities for Skyrim alone are nearly endless; add in Oblivion, Morrowind, etc. and it's a very lucrative, very real possibility.  Maybe only for future Elder Scrolls games, and they could add codes for in-game items... Perhaps create cross-game tie-ins by making sets for Lego:Dimensions?
