gregpj Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 Nice! So a sealed case in a shipping box? May have to order some, these are looking to be a better investment than I thought. My shipping box was still sealed inside a larger shipping box. Bought from Indigo late Sunday night. Arrived today in perfect shape. Sent from my iPod touch using Brickpicker Quote
gregpj Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 No I'd get them other ways by either trading, finding in store by smooshing, or buying outright. Took your advice, sort of. I had to get a couple things at Walmart tonight and when I went to the LEGO aisle (can't not walk through) I saw a opened box of Simpsons minifigures that looked like it hadn't been touched except for a bag or two. Took a chance... quickly smooshed 16 packs to try and limit doubles - I'm sure I did pretty good, but I haven't opened them yet though so we'll see if if I'm full of shazzam or not. Quote

Ended up with duplicates of Krusty, Ralph, Bart, Chief Wiggum and Nelson. I don't mind find duplicate of some of the rarer figs, but unfortunately all the ones I'm missing are also rarer (Lisa, Millhouse, Apu, Itchy and Burns). Crap.. should have bought more. Quote
Iromby Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 How are stocks in european stores? Here in my city both "intertoys" and "Bart Smit" are sold out I asked if they expected to be restocked. Answer was no, normally one store gets one box of 60 pieces. So from a dutch investment point of view I am hopefull Guess who bought half the inventory here in town Verzonden vanaf mijn iPhone met behulp van Brickpicker Quote

Also at Intertoys. I was in my regular legostore where I bought my simpsons box a couple of weeks ago. They asked me twice (quite desperately) if I was interested in another box. But I declined. Are you sure they will not receive any anymore? Maybe I then I should change my mind and buy the other box they offered me. Quote
seapotato Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 My target got another box on thr shelf yesterday but at 3.99 and not 3.49 like it was the first day it came out. Didnt have time to smoosh for any. Quote
wesman888 Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 Just at TRU and they had 500+ packs and I cannot help but ask if I can get an unopened case and she said no problem... and then I asked her if she can price match from 4 49 to 3.99 she said no proble... and then I asked her if I can do 10off50 and she said sure... and so instead of ringing me 4 different times she just had somwone override a $40 discount... yeehaaaaa.... a great day... TheOrcKing Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 I talked myself into getting a couple of Maggies with one Lisa and I must say these are really well done when being held in person. The adult characters' heads seem a little big for the torso yet for some reason the kids' ones look more proportionate. I don't know how to explain the feeling other than they just do.Anywho, Maggie's little body makes an interesting design for the first Lego infant and Lisa's torso could be used in conjunction with a red slope for a full-on red dress on an adult character. Her legs are the same as Milhouse so they'll be nicely useful as well. Her saxophone just feels kind of dull when compared to the Saxophone Player's one. I guess the missing detail of a black mouthpiece makes it seem lacking. Quote
seapotato Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 Between smooshing and trading with ppl from CL, i'm only missing Milhouse now! I take it he is a more rare one? Quote

@rtisan Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 Wonder how high prices for a case will go once EOL? $400? $500? Quote
seapotato Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 Boo-urns!!Yes, there is only three Milhouses per box. Quote

Couldn't stay away... smooshed my 5 missing figures and then smooshed 12 more to complete another set (Krusty was open and I don't think my kid will let me sell/trade it). Only one I'm not sure is I think I may have smooshed two Millhouses and no Scratchy. Had almost given up finding a second Lisa but second last pack had it! I'll have to resmoosh and label them. Millhouse and Ralph are the only ones that are hard to distinguish, Smooshing is addictive. Quote
TheOrcKing Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 Boo-urns!!Well it could have been two per box like some of the previous series. Quote
Tom J Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 Had a sudden surge of orders this evening after a quiet week, no idea why Quote
Jroc4653 Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 The Shipping box I received had been opened looks like just to count the 60 packages. I haven't got around to smoshing to see what is actually in there. Quote
gorbasho Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 I can get 65 sealed bags for $170 on CL, is this worth it for reselling? Hesitating because it's not a case so I don't know if they've been searched, could be 65 of the same character hahaha Quote
TheOrcKing Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 Finally completed my set today!Glad to hear it. I can get 65 sealed bags for $170 on CL, is this worth it for reselling? Hesitating because it's not a case so I don't know if they've been searched, could be 65 of the same character hahahaThat is a distinct possibility as well as the seller just trying to get rid of all the duplicates he/she doesn't want. 1 Quote
superbrickman Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 Finally completed the set for my collection. Will be selling the duplicates. Old news, but these minifigures are really quite great! I didn't start out wanting to keep a set for myself, but all I needed was to open one pack. Quote
No More Monkeys Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 Amazon changed the pricing for simpsons minifig to 3.99 by making it "add-on item" Quote
chinchy Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 i have 2 complete sets as well (still in packs) and about a dozen extra. i was planning to hold onto them for awhile while continuing to look for stores with full displays so i can "feel out" more complete sets. edit: they've been selling out all over san francisco. i've managed to stay ahead of the pack in most of the stores. however, when revisiting them, they've been sold out. AHA! SO YOU'RE THE ONE!! All the Targets I've been to have been sold out... I got excited when Target in Tanforan said that the Colma Target had some left, but when I got there they said there were none, and that little kids have been stealing them, which is why there is a lot of inventory mismatch.... Sigh. Quote
legohoarder Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 Something to think about is, could the money you would purchase Simpsons get a better return elsewhere? The minifigure set is $64 (4x16). This is the same price as 4 of the $20 superhero sets when they are on sale which seems to be pretty much all the time. I love the Simpsons figures, I think the likeness is incredible and the accessories are outstanding, but I feel that the return on investment would be better with 4 sets of superheros than a set of Simpsons. Just my 2 cents Quote
jaisonline Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 I have seen what these are selling for (individual and as a set) and I'm not impressed. At 4-5$ per pack or 99-119$ per set, it seems silly to even bother, unless you can get them cheap. I have 2 complete sets that I am going to hold onto. The rest I may be returning. I don see where there is money to be made. That said I think they are awesome. The likeness to the characters they nailed. No no no. Hold until at least the retailers and Lego.com sells out. Selling now would be like selling a pharma stock before a nice FDA approval press release is published. Like my pal Kenny Rodgers sang so many times... =====> You've got to know when to hold 'em. <====== Know when to fold 'em Know when to walk away Know when to run You never count your money When you're sittin' at the table There'll be time enough for countin' When the dealin's done Quote
Sauromosis Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 I saw a grown man smooshing these at Toys R Us...are there some that are more rare/valuable? Quote
