Val-E Posted September 17, 2015 Posted September 17, 2015 Don't worry, it'll be back in a new box like other sets these days ;-)An EOL coffin, hopefully! Quote
legone3 Posted September 17, 2015 Posted September 17, 2015 This set is not my style, and I will have none. That means it may do very well, based on my previous judgements DeLorean is an example. I have none of those too. 1 Quote

BrickLegacy Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 I haven't been following this set closely. OOS at Amazon, Walmart and Target. US Shop at Home: Out of stock, expected ship date Oct 04 2015. I think it was Sold Out a few days ago.Time to add it to the tracker? Quote
waddamon Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Yes it has been sold out for a little while. Available 5 at a time. I think it is coming to an end. Tempted to get a few more. Nothing crazy maybe 6 or 8. Quote
HandyHand Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Unlike in the USA, this set is not doing much over here in Europe. And while it might do well past retirement in the US I'm making a pass on this set here. Quote
Val-E Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Gentlemen we have our third (unofficial) retirement of the season.http://shop.lego.com/en-CA/MetalBeard-s-Sea-Cow-70810?fromListing=listing Quote
Dr. Brick Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 I think this sets performance will surprise quite a few here. It has all the makings of a sleeper set. It'll help me recover from my 50 Benny's... Quote
JRandall Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 (edited) Too expensive for most of the families that saw the movie and had a child that wanted one, which would be the major demand base. The adults today are looking at other sets to add to their collection before this one at @250. Foreign lego collectors are probably looking at Modular/Star Wars/Super Heroes before jumping on a Lego Movie theme. Town hall nearing $600, still wish I had 5-10 lol.. It'll help me recover from my 50 Benny's...I agree with you. I think this has sleeper over it. Not vastly horded, and if there is one pirate ship to get - I'd buy one of these over 2 brick bounties…….anyday. It's just a classic looking ship. The RRP price does hold it back a bit, but freaking people pay 600 for many pirate ship out there, so this one could have that potential eventually. It's definitely going to be one of those sets, people thought about buying, but pushed it off, but once its gone, they'll want it, and there won't be many boxes out there because people didn't horde it. I just have a hunch on this one... 2 Quote
dcdfan Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 (edited) I can see how people may not have much faith in this set but something to consider is that it didn't make it to 2 years. That's great news in Lego investing. I don't think one would need to be a fan of The Lego Movie to want this. It's a ship, large ships historically do well. I believe that most people would assume they "thought they had more time" to get one of these. I believe it's down to Amazon & Target now in the U.S. For people asking "what Lego set to buy" I would recommend this set. I don't believe it's heavily hoarded but one would need to be patient...my 2¢ Edited October 28, 2015 by dcdfan 3 Quote

But that just makes it even more unique. Edited October 28, 2015 by lobo1969 2 Quote
TargetZero Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 70810 was sold out at toy-r-us canada yesterday, today you cannot even find it on their site. Walmart united states and toyrus united has well. Only remaining place is walmart canada. Quote
dqfritzke Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 Not sure if this has been mentioned but how will the second movie affect the demand for this set? Quote

It's appreciating already! Quote

CNH1974 Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 I once spent 2 hours pressing F5 on amazon so I could get the CD I wanted at the price I wanted. It changed literally on every press. Back on topic I bought my first and probably only Metal Beards Ship. Hopefully it will be a sleeper. Quote

HandyHand Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Interestingly, in Europe it's still fully available with an order limit of 5. If TLG is really set on retiring this set this year, they may even opt to put this set up for discount here in Europe at the Black Friday sale! I'll keep an eye on it... ;-) Quote

Meanwhile our neighbers Belgium en German had nice discounts on some sets. Quote

Are they holding a grudge against The Netherlands / Dutch people about something? Quote
