willy431 Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Figure it out....and profit. Pretty simple actually....we all desire what we can't have and covet scarcity. Quote
TheDarkness Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Funny how this set sits for months at 30% to 50% off, then all of a sudden as soon as it is starting to dry up, people will pay over retail. The human race baffles me. It is called wanting what we can't have....and "collectibles" People can see this stuff not moving but as soon as last drinks are called........ Quote
seapotato Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Hmm not really a fan of this set, but I think most people aren't so maybe it will be worth more int he future? Quote
scuttfarkas Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 One of the real good things about the set is the Boromir figure. You go through the movies and you can only come up with a handful of LEGO sets that might be done that have the character in it. Maybe a Balrog scene....or a Lurtz Battle scene......but that's about it. Quote
binici Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Damn! Looks like the prices are rising now. Found this set at a local Target and the cheapest with RedCard + coupon would be $55 after all is said and down... Quote
Soadfan4ever Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 One of the rumored sets for the next wave had boromir, that would make the cave troll and pippin the only exclusives to this set. Quote

I really do think the cave troll alone will carry the set. I doubt this set will go to the moon in value, maybe $100 at most, but if youre getting them at $50, thats a 100% ROI, not bad these days. Also, as a side not, it appears shelob attacks is the only set from the first series left on LEGO Shop at Home Quote

Seifer Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Yeah, it seems the first wave of LOTR is coming to its end. I was waiting for HD to go down some more on amazon, but no luck so far. I bought one at 25% discount for 80 pounds with tax and delivery. That's below 100 Quote

wholovesboo Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 The Troll has a pretty bad build since it tends to fall alot unless you position the hammer correctly which is a huge let down.... So you're saying if you put a croissant or a drumstick in his hand, he'll keel over? Quote
Alcarin Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 So you're saying if you put a croissant or a drumstick in his hand, he'll keel over? Yes, unless in right position.... The troll is imbalanced sadly.... he is too light compared to his weapon so once the weapon is in his hands it makes him shaky figure at best with limited pose variations... Quote
fendiixx Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Picked another one of these up today for Quote

There used to be some cool looking trolls in the Kingdoms line, didn't there? I regret missing that whole line of wonderful creatures. But that was during my dark ages. The falling over has been my complaint with the Friends mini dolls. I hope they don't make the same mistake with the new Disney princesses. Quote
supraboy888 Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 Sold this for $100CAD today. I went online immediately to TRU USA and bought another one and had to add a Funhouse to make it his $100 so I essentially got this for $55USD. Lucky that I got my order in. Now it's no longer available for shipping to home.....phew.......I have only 2 of these sets. Managed to get one more before the time is up on this. Quote
CNH1974 Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 I was in the Watford Lego Store today looking to see if they had any Mini Modulars left - they did not - but among the 30% off items was 9473 Mines of Moria - for Quote
Veegs Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 Amazon.co.uk also had these on sale recently (I think they still might be there for around 48 pounds) and all signs point to this being EOLed soon. (I think) Quote
supraboy888 Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 Nowhere to be found in any stores in my city. Quote

fendiixx Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 Ah Lego Watford shop is my local Lego store, I may have to go and grab a mines of moria before they all go. How was Batman looking in there, i before Christmas and it was completely cleaned out. Quote
CNH1974 Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 Did not notice any, but I was not looking for it. I was looking for Modulars that were not there, ie the FB, and Mini Modular. I did notice one of the Monster fighter sets was also 30% off. Might have been 9467. Milton Keynes is more my local store, but Watford have a better PAB section. They are now out of 2x2 tiles :P Quote
cissi Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 I grabbed this when TRU had it BOGO 50% at MSRP. They have the price inflated now though still available. Quote
