Plus, they will include shipping costs in the calculation (as long as the seller has set up shipping rates, but every serious seller does). And as you add vendors to the list, it will re-optimize your purchases across all selected vendors, giving you the best deal. Most BL sellers are also on BO, and with the same prices, so you're not missing out there. I never tried brickowl. Just registered, Is there an easy way to transfer a Bricklink Wanted list to a Brickowl whishlist? I did it all manually, it was a pain lol( could not get BrickSync to work at my workplace) I do not find the Brickowl whishlist easy to buy. In fact I find it harder than bricklink. Indeed It calculate the shipping cost, but selecting the best price combination is just a game of luck. You cannot see what items are on which shop shopping list and at what price... makes it impossible to get the correct decision. Am I doing it wrong with brickowl? Quote

BrickSync won't help with getting Wish Lists/Wanted Lists across. Use brickowl.com/wishlist/import to import a BL Wanted List. You will need to save the wanted list to XML first from BL, or use BrickStock to maintain your wishlist and then just import that list (which is what I prefer to do). Once you have a Wish List, go to the buying screen and it will give you an overview of vendors with most lots in stock. Select one based on price, and the list updates to those who have the remaining pieces in stock. Select another seller, and BO will automatically recalculate the allocated pieces distribution across the two vendors to give you the best price. Then add a third for any remaining pieces, and again the price optimizes. You will need to do some playing around with vendor combinations but it does give you a good idea of how cheap you can get things. I have heard others talk about using Brickficiency (or tools like that) to optimize purchase costs, but I have no experience there. Maybe worth checking out (or others can comment ...) 1 Quote
tomazed Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 Little update. I did 7 order for the 400 part missing. Cost me 80 euros of part and something like 50 euros of shipping and fees... I think I have one order for 1,5 euros of part and 6 euros of shipping ? but that was the best I could do. I could have been smoothin the orders on more project and over time, but in the end I decided to go the fastest way and focus on this project only... All orders are on their way, I expect most of them to arrived by this week. So In total, I would have spend: 82 euros on the bulk listing of ~2000 parts on eBay plus 13 of shipping 42 euros on the sticker plus 4 of shipping (Bricklink Seller W44SHOP still has some, and the one I received was mint) 80 euros on Bricklink order for the last 400 remaining parts plus 5 minifig in new condition and 50 euros of shipping that would total for 271 euros which I think is a very good price. All the parts will be legit Lego part in the correct color (old grey color in the bulk were discarded) I will post a picture once assembled! Also, as I was posting before, I tried whitening some parts because, why not! I used a mix of Peroxyde Hydrogen and Washing Soda. I first put some lukewarm water just enough to submerged the lego parts entirely. Then I disolved a tea spoon of washing soda in it. Then I poured two table spoon of Peroxyde Hydrogen (mine was higly concentrated at 35%. Watch out for your eyes) I put it in the sun for about 2 hours, stiring and re submerging part every 15-30 minutes because from what I understand, the chemical reaction creates the little bubbles you can see in the picture which are CO² (carbon dioxyde) which makes the lego part floating... just a gentle poke every few and then to remove the bubble (especially from the bottom of the part) and voila! These are the part before. Some are very yellowed, other not so much on the top but more on the side Here are the same parts after a session of whitening... most of them look just as new (if you do not count the bite mark on them lol! ) I still have a lot to do, will start building soon, I think my biggest luck was to find the eBay bulk sale. thank you all for your input. Great Community! 8 Quote

Great Community! I have the entire collection of the 1st and 2nd wave of Harry Potter Lego and I must say, there are a lot of discoloured pieces as these sets are about 16 years old! I might try this little trick to fix them! Thanks for sharing this! Only thing that sucks, is I've already reconstructed most of it so I'll have to disassemble a lot Still, thanks for sharing! Quote

I have not tried this on printed parts like minifig, I have no guarantee on how it will turn so proceed with caution. I read it should be ok but not tested myself... I read it should be ok but not tested myself... I had problems with certain company's paints. Hasbro red and orange bleached but other companies didn't have the same problem. I would suggest that anyone who is concerned, use a part you don't care about to test. I did not have any problems with the few parts I tried that had stickers. LEGO stickers seem to be quite robust. 2 Quote
tomazed Posted July 11, 2017 Posted July 11, 2017 (edited) So... The majestic beast has landed in the middle of my living room... And it's even bigger in flight mode! Il will have some whitening to do on more part because now assemble, I clearly see some yellowing Also, one of my order did not show up so I'm missing 2 parts and the Shuttle Pilot Replacement have been made for the 2x10 light bluish grey brick, for the white windscreen I bought a freeco speeder for 10 euros which bonus point will yield me a Thi-sen and Anakin with parka which where on my wanted list anyway. I'll still buy a 2x10 light bluish grey brick because I want it to be 100% original Minifigs reporting for duty! Damn, Pilot is missing. Curse you Lituanian post office! How difficult can it be to pilot this thing said the stormtrooper before crashing them on Endor All in all it was a good experience. You have to be patient to collect all missing parts when buying a half completed set but I had a good time! Now I'm only missing the Shuttle Pilot (grrr) and 2 bricks, There are a few bricks that will probably be replaced because wrong color (old gray) or very damage (teeth mark) but I think I can say I assembled below 300€ shipping included which I think is a bargain seing how much it sells on bricklink... Next I'll be doing this set, bought from eBay with around 100 missing part on the ~1700 total, can you guys guess which one it is? (hint: thoses wheels are definitely a tell sign) Edited July 11, 2017 by tomazed formatting 6 Quote

RightDwigt Posted December 18, 2020 Posted December 18, 2020 Resurrecting this thread as it seemed to be the most appropriate place. Does anyone have a 10212 Shuttle they'd be willing to part with? I've delayed for years, but now my kids keep seeing it in our LEGO books and saying "your white whale, your white whale!!" Looking for NIB (box condition not critical), or open-box sealed bags complete. Would consider an excellent condition used copy but only as a last resort. #choosybeggar I have an Ewok Village and maybe a couple other sets that could offset any value if anyone is interested in that. Thanks. Quote

Thanks. i just speared this white whale just yesterday (see other post)...I hear you tho...the yellowing of this set is notorious...when I finally build mine, I plan to regularly coat it in spf70 and never open the curtains... there is the outside chance of a re-make tho, which is the risk. I know the Cantina ended up bunking the rumors..but those rumors came from somewhere...likely the 2021 set that includes the shuttle. Edited December 18, 2020 by $20 on joe vs dan Quote
RightDwigt Posted December 18, 2020 Posted December 18, 2020 I saw your post just a minute after posting mine. Felt like déjà vu! Congrats on spearing your whale. You guys look very happy! I did notice that the new 21 set is coming, it's not a UCS one is it? I put off my search for the UCS after the rumors. I should not have waited. I probably passed on three or so sealed box deals for under $500 in the time prior. Quote
