Tom J Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 Anybody that bought some from John Lewis get an email concerning import duties from Aramex? According to email from Aramex shipment will be held until import duties are paid. Why is it that when I purchase from Amazon.co.uk that I don't get slapped with these fees? ??? Scam or anybody else in this boat with me and I just happened to not read the fine print. How many did you order? Quote

Scam or anybody else in this boat with me and I just happened to not read the fine print. This I find fascinating! If you're ordering products to be delivered to someone else, please make sure they're aware they'll be responsible for these additional charges. Unfortunately we have no control over these charges and cannot predict what they may be, so we're unable to offer any assistance on these processes. We'd advise that you check the import charges applicable in any country before ordering products to be delivered there. Direct from John Lewis' website under international delivery. My import duties for 4x SC shipped to CA cost me an extra $108! Target's inflated price of $174 isn't looking too bad right now... except the lack of stock. Definitely now becoming a long term investment to recoup the charges. Wished I could have gotten it from Amazon.fr. I have built one of these and it is a rather exceptional creation. Looking forward to another LEGO exclusive set to satisfy the aircraft enthusiasts out there. Speculate anyone? It can't be the Helicarrier that fills this gap. Quote

Guess a remake of Fokker Dr. 1 may be the next airplane. Would be fantastic to pair with the Sopwith. Quote
leaningjowler Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 Did anyone that purchased Sopwith Camels from John Lewis on December 3rd get hit with an import charge? 80.00 additional for 3 sopwith camels. I have never had this happen with Amazon.uk... Thanks Quote
minicoopers11 Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 (edited) No, but John Lewis shouldn't be charging you. If USCIS decides to charge you, they will give you the bill, not John Lewis. Also, duty is not that high for importing toys into USA. That's insane. (I'm also 99.9999% sure you have not exceeded the threshold requiring duty from UK-USA). @rtisan Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 Ouch....That`s weird, so this letter is from Amazon.co.uk? Or John Lewis? If so I`d give them a call and see what`s up, that amount is way too high, at least higher than I`ve ever seen for an order of that size, way higher. What did they list the contents as? Nuclear weapons? Launch codes? Quote
tractorboy Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 I didn't think you US guys ever had to pay import charges on Lego. Quote
ZULU Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 Maybe it passed unnoticed - with all the EoL action going on: SC EoL 1 Quote
Deez_Brickz Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 I didn't think you US guys ever had to pay import charges on Lego. I once ordered $2500 worth of lego at one time from a UK seller and paid 0 import/duty charges. Value and shipping cost were accurate on the customs forms. Quote
jaisonline Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 I didn't think you US guys ever had to pay import charges on Lego. Yup. Depends on the import tariffs charged by US Customs and the amount threshold. Quote
Guest TabbyBoy Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 Sold out means nothing until it gets "The Label". I have my fill of these anyway. Quote
ZULU Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 Yup. Depends on the import tariffs charged by US Customs and the amount threshold. did some online research, which indeed confirmed shipping to US is without extra customs tax. Not bad if you think the reverse is the case US -> Europe Quote

immenstaad Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 what do u think. how high will this set fly? Quote
Val-E Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Outside the UK and the US, not very high at all. Maybe double RRP in 2 years. In the UK and US maybe 3 or 3.5 x RRP 2 Quote
Guest TabbyBoy Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 10226 is finally a "Retired Product" in the UK. Prepare for take-off! Quote
Heart Juggler Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 I already have 2 of these (bought at just below RRP). Now that the set is retired and is steadily growing, would it be worth picking a few more up? If so, for what recommended maximum price? Quote
