terrymc4677 Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 this set blows. after taking a bath in home ones, i am steering clear of this "exclusive". good luck to you guys if you decide to dive in. Quote
exciter1 Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 I got one this morning for $61.99. I don't feel too bad about this price, but I'm not buying anymore. Quote
Raykong Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 I went to my local TRU with the intent of buying a set. I was amazed to see twenty sets on the shelves. I passed. I've. Ver seen more than five of any set, but to see twenty of such a large set made it clear just how unloved the set was. They probably should have stocked a bunch in the back --unless there are even more in the back! I ultimately went with two y wings for $70.00. Quote

Thats a great deal especially considering its from tru! Quote

I think the reason there are so many of these sets is that: 1) it's priced too high even on sale 2) all the investors that took a bath on the Home One are staying away from it. I bought one to build and its a pretty cool set. I like making Mace Windu fly out the window. I was getting ready to build Chancellor Palpatine and my 4 year old said " DO IT " just like the Emperor says to Anakin when he is going to decapitate Dooku. I think my kid is a Sith Lord. Quote
Darth Lego Posted February 23, 2013 Posted February 23, 2013 It's a trap! I agree. It's overpriced and as others have said it reminds me of the Home One. Quote
StarCityBrickCompany Posted February 23, 2013 Posted February 23, 2013 I don't think it is another Calamari - The 9526 is a nice set, with many cool exclusive minifigs. The Calamari set was (I think) 109.99 msrp (way too high) had Ackbar, Lando, plus a bunch of others (people that you wouldn't recognize), & then they released Ackbar in a magnet set (which ended up on clearance) - so that just left Lando. Plus, I believe that Lego way overproduced the Calamari set, and won't allow the same thing to happen with this one. I actually think that this one could be an under the radar winner. Quote
weakside Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 Pretty good deal. The My Store flyer shows it's on sale from April 19th to 25th. Reg price $119.99, discount = $71.87 before taxes. Not an amazing set but with 6 minifigs and 40% off it's not a risky gamble at all, especially for our CAN prices. I picked up 4 sets online. Lego City Mining Truck is also 40% off at $29.87, but still seems expensive so I didn't buy. Same with The Hobbit - The Goblin King $30 off at $99.87. Lastly, not Lego but this STAR WARS - The Vintage Collection - MILLENNIUM FALCON Vehicle is $149.87, Reg price is $269.99. Quote
emazers Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 The Falcon at $149.00 is a bargain. In the US its $249.00 for $149.00 I would get a couple. Quote
weakside Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 You talked me into it...pulled the trigger on the $149 Falcon. Quote
emazers Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 The Falcon came out last Christmas and is a Toys R Us Exclusive, The Box is Big and Very Heavy. Quote
JoshTX Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 Palpatine's Arrest seems to fly under the radar on this forum, I noticed there is almost never any discussion of it. So what is the general consensus on this set? It looks pretty expensive for what it is, but it is an exclusive set and it's probably my favorite scene from the prequel trilogy. Will this set do well after retirement? Quote
Fcbarcelona101 Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 I guess people make a connection between this set and the Home One of a few years ago. If it follows that set then it may turn out to be a terrible choice. But I do agree that it is a pretty interesting set of a famous scene from Episode 3 that I personally would like to own for myself. Quote
StarCityBrickCompany Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 The concensus has been mostly negative - many people seem to compare it to the 7754 Home One Mon Calamari set. I disagree & believe that the minifigs are much more exclusive & that the scene shown in this set is significant - I think it will do well. Quote
Blackjack Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 The minifigures are great, but it should have had a smaller price tag. Quote
JoshTX Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 The minifigures are great, but it should have had a smaller price tag. So is this set the only way to get a "Pre-Emperor" Palpatine minifig? Quote
jaisonline Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 Not sure why this set is often compared to 7754 Home One Mon Calamari . While 9526 is from the prequels, it is the scene where Skywalker turns evil by becoming "Darth Vader" (yeah, i know... no helmet yet) and the Jedi's downfall begins. It is also pretty cool set (layout and minifigs). Quote
weakside Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 The retail price was just too high, even with a lot of minifigs. But with the recent 40% off for this set in TRU CAN it's reasonable so I bought two sets...will flip one set this weekend and keep the second as back up. Quote
kerrmando Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 Hey maybe even Home One will do well later on if we see another Mon Cal Star Cruiser in the next movie... I personally think this set will do fine. Got a ton of figs, and is an iconic scene. I've got a few! Quote
h311m4n Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 Yeah it's flying under the radar and it's not a set that seems to be available at a lot of stores (at least over here). I find it's an iconic scene so I got one for myself. I see it rather like a cloud city set (although I doubt it'll go that high in prices, ever) and its got a lot of figs... Quote
Alcarin Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 I would buy it BUT I will not pay nearly 100 Quote
Blackjack Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 So is this set the only way to get a "Pre-Emperor" Palpatine minifig? Besides the one that came in the Venator Class Star Destroyer, yes. However, that was a different minifigure, this one has different printing, and an angry face. Quote
JoshTX Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 I think I'll pick one up if I can ever find it at a discount. I'd really like to make Mace Windu die a few times over... Quote
Snowcrash Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 Once bit, twice shy. Right or wrong investors see Home One written all over this set, and kids don't seem to be buying as everywhere you look it's a shelfwarmer. Maybe someday if TRU clearances them all out in a firesale I'll bite. Quote
