wallwebber Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 Time will tell. If any winter village sets can be picked up for under retail, buy them. Quote
bricksexpert Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 Trust me. Winter village sets are not being re-released. Only a new set for this holiday season. Not so true...It will be back this year. I just preordered them Quote

bricksexpert Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 From the toy shop near me. They are coming back in October. Also have GE but no FB Death Star is there too Quote
bricksexpert Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 Was the Winter Bakery still in it? Nop, so I think it's probably retired? Lego site is showing OOS, don't know what that means but I wud get one Bakery just in case. Quote
TheDarkness Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 Yeah I suspected it was gone. People have gotten onto it pretty quick. Looks like one I will miss the boat on that one but oh well Quote
cflannagan Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 This set, it's something I'm interested in but has largely been off my radar - mainly because I'm sort of uneducated in the winter theme sets. Does this set normally go on "sale" anywhere? I'm able to get this for 5% off MSRP, no shipping/tax costs (Amazon). Should I go for it, or will I probably be able to score one at a better price later on (based on previous experiences others had with Winter themed sets)? Thanks in advance! Quote
redeemed763 Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 First of all, in general winter village sets go on sale 20% at Lego Stores just after the holidays and they are trying to clear out their inventory. It has been rumored a few times that this set is already EOL, but I am bit doubtful of that. If it already is EOL, than even retail isn't too bad to be paying for this set. My recommendation would be to grab one now from amazon with no tax/free shipping since that already isn't very bad for a set with such limited availability. Quote

Was thinking of buying 2 (one would be for investing, another building) but w/what you said, I decided to balance it out and buy just one instead, and hope to score 2nd one at least 20% off after next holiday season. If the ship has sailed, then no biggie, I'll still build it and sell it as used one day if I decide to sell it off. Update: Bought it for $38, due to $42 from Amazon Reward points applied, plus $14 leftover gift card balance. Quote
redeemed763 Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 Exactly my thoughts, its a great build, if you have one, at least you won't have to spend crazy amounts of money to get them later or wish you had gotten it when it was retail. Quote
heathx3 Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 Since they release a new one each year (2009-2012), I have found it is a crap shoot after the holidays, especially for anything MIB, as most stuff thrown into the "reduced" pile is typically damaged boxes. I have all 4 of the bigger sets (10199, 10216, 10222 & 10229) and figure with that pattern, that a new 5th set will be released around November for the 2013 season. Something like a church or a town square would be a nice addition. Another cool idea would be to release a parts package to be able to "winterize" other sets like the City modulars (emporium, fire brigade, town hall, cinema, etc) or the MMV type sets for a more rustic look. Instructions to remove and replace roof and window sills with white bricks for the covered in snow effect and a few pieces to "decorate" such as wreaths and string lights. Just a thought. Quote
redeemed763 Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 This year is going to be a market for the village theme. As for the crap shoot, if you go through a few Lego stores after the Holidays, you should find them MIB. I have seen literally stacks and stacks of them on sale for 20% off afterwards at just about every Lego store I've gone to. That is the Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Columbus, and all three Chicago area stores. Sometimes one won't have them on sale just because they never order enough and ran out in the Holidays but they are always eager to get rid of them if they do have extras lying around. Quote
@rtisan Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 I think it`s a great set. I stumbled across some at my Lego store for 1/2 off ($64.99 each), and ended up buying 6. Being the largest of the winter theme so far gives it a little extra push if you know what I mean. Lovely set, and I`ll likely end up opening one come Christmas time. Quote
Rich B Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 This is a great set, especially if you can find it at a discounted price. It's probably my favorite of the 4 winter series sets. I can't wait to see pictures of the market that's rumored to come out this year. Does anyone have pics of it yet? Quote
12LSL Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Hi I was able to pick up 10229 yesterday for $50.00. What is an expected target price ? Sell now for a good profit ? Quote
redghostx Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Sell to me for $100. (: Seriously, 10029 is presently selling in the 160 range plus shipping so if you want to flip it, sell now and profit $90. I would hold on to it though or build it at that price, if you are into displaying lego as well. Quote
12LSL Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 $50.... there was one at my Lego store...returned item at the sale price of $79. I used my $30 in VIP points Quote
Huskers1236 Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 If you're looking to keep sealed and not build, wait until next holiday season as this is expected to not be around next year. It will be $200, no problem. Quote

jaisonline Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Hi I was able to pick up 10229 yesterday for $50.00. What is an expected target price ? Sell now for a good profit ? keep it for 2 years and then sell. you will be very happy with the profits after paying $80 excluding $30 in VIP points. Quote
M4x18 Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Holy crap, I just checked this and the latest sold items are going for at least 35% over MSRP in the US and nearly 20% on the not-so-WV-loving EU market. Did the EOL-ing (potentially) halfway in December catch a lot of people with their pants down? I could grab 3 more of these at retail price... Decisions, decisions... Quote
jgschmieg3 Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Found a WC at Walmart today. It has obviously Ben resealed. Can anyone tell me how many sealed bags should be in the box and other loose parts? Or can someone tell me where I can look? Quote
Alpinemaps Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 I've got one in my garage opened. If someone doesn't beat me to it, I'll get the info posted in a little while. Edit: Here's what's in the box: 5 bags marked 1 8 bags marked 2 5 bags marked 3 2 instruction books 4x white 8x16 plates 1 small set of stickers Quote
