Popular Post brickvoyeur
Quote I'll read the Nightmare Before Christmas story this year, kids. Twas the night before Clearance And all through the aisle Steamrollers were packed Into my cart like a pile Exo Suits were hung In the storage with care Knowing that in a decade They still will be there Sergeant Jyn Erso was nestled Deep under my bed With terrible proportions And a face that looks dead Wonder woman in her armor And cheetah in her cap The lasso of truth will tell you That this set is pure crap When out on my doorstep A noise shook me awake ShopJustice still delivering Olaf Flat as a pancake Faster shipping than FedEx The turds as they came I cried and I pouted As I called them by name "Now, Dots! now, Mario! Now Lego Movie 1 and 2! On, Raiders! on, Mighty Dinos! On, Takodana and constractables too! To the depths of the dumpster! Stacked 50 feet tall Now throw away! throw away! throw away all!" Each year I make efforts To donate a bit more But Toys for tots sends a bill For returning them to my door Since I can't give them away I'll dig a big pit It's the final solution To get rid of this sh!t I shook as I laughed At the thought of relieving this pain It was nearly 3am So I looked quite insane As I poured the kerosene I cheered with delight "I'll light you on fire, So you're out of my sight" Edited December 7, 2022 by brickvoyeur 15
Alpinemaps
Traded my last 10224 Town Hall, poly VW Bus and a poly Mini for a 10212 Imperial Shuttle. I’ve been wanting this set since I started this thing. 10212 is a white whale of mine. I’ve built 10224. It’s only okay IMO. I think it was a good trade. Congrats!

Clousy Clouse
75279 Lego Star Wars Advent Calendar 2020. Found a few in a book store in the morning for 15€ (50% off), sold almost immediately für 40€ cash. My quickest quick flip ever. I wonder what these will sell for next year. Nice hobby That is crazy high - I'm around 135% over a pretty long lifetime (which I believe is extremely high). Do you sell the dogs, or are you holding onto the sets that haven't appreciated yet? (And shout out to Phil B., I benefited from a good amount of free KMart LEGO, myself)!!! My final KMart tally was $14k+ of LEGO for $2.5k, basically an average of 82% off. That, and the fact that I somehow also managed to pick quite a few winners amongst those definitely help. But my non-KMart investments are doing pretty good too. My other Olivia's sets just started moving as well on FBA ... 41307 Olivia's Creative Lab for $50, that's 5xRRP. jeff_14
Before COVID hit there was a store by me that had a wall of the superhero girls high school on discount. Finally got back there last week and they still had 8 so I got them all plus all their Harry Potter Aragon sets (I’d already sold 4 of these for 4 times what I paid) and just now sold one of the high schools already for twice what I paid. Do you sell the dogs, or are you holding onto the sets that haven't appreciated yet? That is a tough question, that depends on available storage space and expected appreciation vs other sets. I sell the dogs 2 years after EOL regardless of the price, most of the time the seller rank is really bad and you have to price 20-30% below going price to move some numbers. Hope it helps. Great SNOT techniques, huge, impressive display size, interesting Technic gear train inside to fold up the wings...it's a really cool set.

coelian
I see stocks at retail stores dwindling, maybe claw back a little if you can otherwise no stock when it eventually retires. I can't imagine how lego keeps up its catalogue for next year.
$20 on joe vs dan
are folks holding onto the Slave 1 Anniversary set? obviously sell off the Razor Crests since it ain't retiring...both are hot right now (both around $200 when include shipping-ebay)...but obviously Slave 1 (currently) has the higher ceiling Edited December 7, 2020 by $20 on joe vs dan

Sold off previous version wayyy too early and left over $150 on the table per set. Its only going up, likely $300 by Q4 2021. Why would you sell? Unless you have 100's but even then.... ride the gain....
marcandre
There is some value in selling off quickly. Getting $200 for slaves purchased a week ago for $75? Nothing to regret about that, especially if you use the money wisely.
