What Lego set did you sell today and for how much?

I thought the Batman Superman film would have helped.

The set itself is awesome.  If anyone is in the market for a neat build and great Batman minifig selection, this is a great set to buy,

Too bad every minifig is either a rehash or has already been rehashed.  I think many Lego Superhero buyers don't seem to care much about the brick builds in sets.  It's all about the minifigs.  If even 1/2 of the included minifigs were really "exclusive" (meaning no other recent set contained a version of that character) , I'm sure prices would be above $400.

I’m in the process of rebuilding one from a bulk lot and it’s not what I was expecting, as it's much less of a playset than thought it would be.  But it’s also not quite up to AFOL/Modular standards.  Don’t get me wrong I think it’s a great set and MODS well, but I think it would have done better if it had been more of playset at a lower cost or more of an AFOL set with less focus on the figs.

Alt listing , since the primary was suppressed for the longest .

Thanks for confirming.  I have seen the alternate listing on multiple sets, but figure consumers were smart enough to go to the primary listing in the search results especially since the prices are cheaper.  There are always going to be a few who don't care and spend the extra money I guess.

I'm a seasoned Amazon buyer and have lots of trouble figuring out which listing is the primary and which one of the sometimes several listings aren't. Some listing titles are easy to spot, but quite often they're all virtually identical. Any tips?

Look at sales rank. The better ranked item is usually the primary. Not always, but a decent rule of thumb.

I typically do a search for the set by name and number (ie - "LEGO Ant-Man" and "LEGO 76039") to see which one comes up first in search results.  I then look at the reviews to see which has the most and also which has the most offers for sale.  The price may be higher on the secondary listing but my assumption has been that most consumers are going to go with the first search result especially if the price is lower.  I do often wonder what the sales volume comparison would be for separate listings like this and if it is worthwhile to park some of my inventory in the other one to fetch a higher price.  I have always decided against that though.

That might work but is a lot of effort. Just look at these two listings. I think I know which one is the alternate (the primary listing would not have "Toy" in the title) but looking at other stats things are not as clear cut. Look at the number of reviews for example ....

Personally, I realize it's tough for amazon to merge all listings, but I wish they would do that with lego sets, unless of course they are bundled with other sets.  The architecture sets are some of the weirdest, because at times there are so many multiple listings of the same set and the listing titles are all different and have no consistency.  They just need to merge all of them together and the titles should be consistent.  It would make it easier on the consumer and sellers.  I do tend to list mine in multiple listings if I have enough stock.  Sometimes you just never know..  I've had some sets sell in one of those non-primary listings where the set could be found at a cheaper price in another listing.  You just never know and sometimes the consumer isn't going to be so thorough in their research before they make a purchase.

It only takes a minute or two.  I don't sell a ton of different sets on Amazon so it isn't that much extra work.  When I send sets to Amazon I want them gone within 30 days hopefully.  I don't plan to park them in their warehouse.  The first listing does seem to be the primary one.  It is first in search results, has more reviews (127 to 2) and the sales rank is much higher (29k in toys and games compared to 227k).

The price difference is over $20.  How many consumers are going to bypass the primary listing in search results to pay 30% more for the same thing?  I'm sure it happens from time to time by how long would it take to sell your stock at the higher price?  I don't really know the answer to those questions and I wish Amazon would streamline the listings and merge the duplicates.

I sold my last handful of Chima Fire Bikes at a yard sale... $2 each, buy in $0. Check out that return on investment. :jester:

Shop lifting = buy in $0.  Who says crime doesn't pay.

In all seriousness, I'm just finishing the book "American Desperado."  If you found Goodfellas or Casino even slightly entertaining, read this book.

Regardless, shoplifting is even something that might deserve a wage per hour designation.  Is it minimum wage, gas + labor, time to think up the scheme, or stress wage?

I'll check out that movie.  I can also recommend "The Seven Five" for coverage of corrupt detective work.

I thought amazon had a rule about listing the same item on multiple listings.I thought it was against amazon policy for you to list more then 1 listing for the same item(even if there are 2 listings you can only pick 1) can any amazon veterans enlighten us

Last week:

7143 Jedi Starfighter $45 shipped

6097 Night Lord's Castle

6175 Crystal Explorer Sub

6135 Spy Shark

6115 Shark Scout

1822 Sea Claw 7

To one buyer for $180 shipped. (OMG I actually sold some Aquazone!!?!!?!!)

Today:

2015 Streetview Collection $85 shipped. Had really banked on these going at closer to $100 when I picked them up, alas. Still 100% profit after fees are deducted, but not quite what I was hoping for. Buyer informed me she almost cancelled due to a cheaper listing she spotted at the last second. I guess I'm lucky?

Sold the first of my dozen 9488 elite clones and droids battle packs the other day on Amazon for $45 CDN. I increased the price $5 and sold another one the next day. These have been listed for over a year with no action. Weird. Paid $9 each for these and figure I'll net $25 profit each after fees and shipping are accounted for. Yay battle packs. And none of these figures appeared in any media anywhere other than a cartoon that was discontinued 3 years ago. Doubt I'll see the same result for any Chima battle packs.

60026 Town Square for £90 posted (buy-in £36 from John Lewis, -50% due to trashed box)

10179 UCS MF - My very last one with 9.5 grading in sealed acrylic box for £3500 cash (buy-in was £172 during Modelzone's closing down sale!). I've now got the bits together to finally build my own!

21104 Mars Rover -  My last 5 for £74.99 each plus P&P (That's it, I can't get any more from the US)

I'm having a mass offload on eBay (using various accounts) and just too many sets to list but, I've sold over 150 sets in the last week!. I'm undercutting most other sellers but, my buy-in was 60-70% off at supermarkets and I need a big clear out. There's still over £25k worth to shift and then I'm left with desirable Exclusives and custom sets only.
