Popular Post brickvoyeur
Quote I'll read the Nightmare Before Christmas story this year, kids. Twas the night before Clearance And all through the aisle Steamrollers were packed Into my cart like a pile Exo Suits were hung In the storage with care Knowing that in a decade They still will be there Sergeant Jyn Erso was nestled Deep under my bed With terrible proportions And a face that looks dead Wonder woman in her armor And cheetah in her cap The lasso of truth will tell you That this set is pure crap When out on my doorstep A noise shook me awake ShopJustice still delivering Olaf Flat as a pancake Faster shipping than FedEx The turds as they came I cried and I pouted As I called them by name "Now, Dots! now, Mario! Now Lego Movie 1 and 2! On, Raiders! on, Mighty Dinos! On, Takodana and constractables too! To the depths of the dumpster! Stacked 50 feet tall Now throw away! throw away! throw away all!" Each year I make efforts To donate a bit more But Toys for tots sends a bill For returning them to my door Since I can't give them away I'll dig a big pit It's the final solution To get rid of this sh!t I shook as I laughed At the thought of relieving this pain It was nearly 3am So I looked quite insane As I poured the kerosene I cheered with delight "I'll light you on fire, So you're out of my sight" Edited December 7, 2022 by brickvoyeur 15

jeff_14
Jek Porkins, man. Jek Porkins. Where's my "I can hold it" drop? What he said. But seriously, maybe someone wants the playable version for their or their kids' collection, not to mention the figures.

jeff_14
9493 X-wing for $230 !!!! ($190 after fees and shipping) and a Uruk Hai army for $85, both on Amazon.ca. Figure I kept $250 and paid $100 for both originally.Just realized I misstated the total. The x-wing sold for $265 before shipping and fees. I had stated the after total and then deducted fees and shipping again.

fossilrock
Well, at that price, most that still have x-wings (like me) are gonna make 3x, maybe 4x come christmas time, once that black friday reset hits. I'll take dat'.. The question, i'm starting to wonder is - could we be blowing these too early, even if you sell off between now and christmas? What if the movie is excellent, and everyone is gushing and freaking out about all things Star Wars? Original trilogy x-wings could be a hot commodity after December 18th. It's really a dilemma for me to sell them in the next few months, I think. Same goes for many other sets. Just watching how many of the larger sets are going in and out of stock at lego.com right now leads me to believe this could be a calm before the super storm. I do think we will see OT x-wings again in this form, but maybe not until early 2017 at the earliest. This gives the secondary market some time for these to go into the stratosphere. I don't need to since you already did. So back on topic... I've sold nothing the last 3 weeks. I removed all my eBay listings a few days before I went on a work trip a couple weeks ago and the break has been refreshing. Probably won't throw anything back up until October unless someone comes back and says they sold a Palpatine's arrest for $110US. Then those duds are going up! I blame whiskey and the Brits for coming up with the customary units system. Wasn't it the Yanks who came up with "New Math"? What the heck is that? Might explain the following:American capitalism - You have two cows. You sell three of them to your publicly listed company, using letters of credit opened by your brother-in-law at the bank, then execute a debt/equity swap with an associated general offer so that you get all four cows back, with a tax exemption for five cows. The milk rights of the six cows are transferred via an intermediary to a Cayman Island company secretly owned by the majority shareholder who sells the rights to all seven cows back to your listed company. The annual report says the company owns eight cows, with an option on one more. You sell one cow to buy a new president of the United States, leaving you with nine cows. No balance sheet provided with the release. The public buys your bull

You could very well be right and I wouldn't bet against it. I'm not expecting to be able to participate in the Christmas Amazon season as I don't expect I'll meet the quota. Plus, anytime I can get more than double on a set within a year of purchase I'm pretty happy, so almost 4 times the price already is good for me. I almost, ALMOST, decided to pull this listing the other week and build this, but decided against it since I have many previous versions of this set. I can get the minifigs separately if need be. I can afford it. Edited September 21, 2015 by jeff_14

I can afford it. Due to monsters minifigures, I managed to meet the "25 sales by end of october goal" already, so i'm in like flynn. I managed to get x-wings in the 50's when they were around, so at this point, when they hit 200, I can pretty much consider that a 3x success, because after fees/taxes, etc that should clear 150. Which will end up being about a 100.00 profit. I really do think the window to get them at that price will be from late december to about may, because I have a feeling there will be another one sometime in the next year or two. Like others have said in previous threads, Disney will milk this for everything it's worth, and so it's going to get chaotic. With new Homing Spider Droids, and A-wings coming out, the old 2013 version barely even had time to accrue any value, making them seem more and more like a pointless venture investing in any of those. Because their values might plummet if the newer versions are much improved.. I'd suspect it won't be long until the new OT luke x-wing is around the corner. fossilrock
Well, I dangled a complete wave of JW for 600.00. That included all 5 sets plus the polybag, and someone bit on amazon… Down to 4 complete waves remaining. Luckily TRU had a Raptor Rampage available today so I used a raise card, and got one back for cost. That's one less Trex set I got to deal with. I can recover the other 3 sets (IR, PC, & DA) rather easily. Edited September 23, 2015 by fossilrock

fossilrock
well done! how long was your listing up for before you got the bite edit: oh yea and how much are you planning to bump up to, for the next set. where do you think the cap is Less than 3 weeks. I had it sitting on another listing with just the 5 sets (minus the polybag), but deleted that one and changed it out for all 5 plus the polybag. I'm not sure where the cap is, because Jurassic World is getting interesting. At moments it seems like the line is coming back, as Trex did pretty much through all of August/early September. But now things are showing signs that it's getting scarce again on all the sets, so i'm not sure. Personally, I'm pretty sure these are easily at 3x come retirement. 4x isn't out of question by the time the next movie hits. I wasn't expecting it to sell to be honest. it kind of surprised me. I just wanted to perhaps sell one wave before christmas. Now that I have, I don't think i'll sell anymore, unless I can get back another IR. It was one of those, "well if it goes, great… if not, no big deal".. It went, now I got to go on a search mission again. Still made about 170 of profit on it because I bought most of these using raise gift cards at B&N and TRU. exciter1
Via AmazonA few Halloween TOTs - $24, TMNT Kraang Lab Escapes - $27, LR Constitution Trains - $135, City: Train Stations (7937) - $95. Considering you could get 7937 for $27 when TRU clearanced them, they are doing pretty well. Edited September 25, 2015 by exciter1
