What Lego set did you sell today and for how much?

I need to give this a try, but the whole Craigslist scene still creeps me out.

For the most part, the majority of my Craig's sales have been with "normal" people, with a few repeat customers. You can usually get a good feel for a person through the conversation ahead of time to set up the deal. The people who lowball you are usually the strange ones, and since I don't give my inventory away I never meet them.

Where I get leery is when I'm buying used sets/lots from others, because who knows what kind of person I am about to meet.

I have had nothing but good luck with Craigslist when it comes to Lego.  Yeah, there's some weird SOB's out there, but I haven't had much issue yet.  Mostly very nice people either buying for their kids or selling their kids old stuff.  I'm also not in a big urban area in the midwest, folks out here are pretty salt of the earth.

Are you guys selling the new sets for below retail on craigslist?

It depends on my buy in and the set's current availability. The MHC I sold for $40 (retail is $50 plus tax) because I bought them from target for $16 and they are still available. The desert skiff i also sold for $40, which is above retail, but is no longer found in stores, at least in my area. I bought those for $15 from shopko clearance. The A-Wing I priced at $25 (paid $15), and the city park cafe I sold for $45 (paid $22 shopko clearance). The fact that there are no selling or shipping fees on Craig's also factors in, and enables you to go a little lower than the going rate on eBay if you choose to.

Depends what I bought it for.  I had an At/te that I got for $40 from Amazon last Christmas and sold it for $65 since that's about what it was going for on Amazon.  Most of what I have up there is retired so no, most is above or at retail.

I have also not attempted to sell any big sets as there is not a huge buyer base.  I tried to sell a Death Star last Christmas for retail and got one reply, and it was a lowball.

I agree about the big set comment. Most of my sales on Craig's are small to medium sets. Most of the people shopping Craig's are looking for a deal and trying to spend as little as possible. I still list a few big sets though, because I always tell myself, "if it isn't listed, then it for sure will not sell". I was able to sell my used SSD on Craig's, so you never know. The guy drove 90 miles to buy it too. There are all kinds.

I'm in the Chicago suburbs so everyone here should be pretty normal right?

Series 1 Mixels are on fire right now. In the last three days, I've sold 6 sets as well at $115, with 4 of them going in the last 25 hours. Time to raise the price again.

I haven't sold any in quite some time, same price.  I just checked and noticed someone has 7 sets at $112.99.  Damn competition!
