stephen_rockefeller Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Much closer to what the MSRP should be for this set methinks. Quote
Studebricker Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 FYI amazon is showing this at 86.77 today. EEEEEX-CELLENT!!! Quote
agp548 Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Wow even though its says 86.77 on amazon when I add it to my cart the price goes to 119.00. What the hell??? Quote
comicblast Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 FYI amazon is showing this at 86.77 today. AHH! Missed it! Back up to $92.44. I bet it will go down again, so I will wait.... Quote
StarPod Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Endor and home one were poor preformers all had the same peice count and close to price. Do you feel jabbas palace will do the same .17 a brick is costly for a Lego Quote
stephen_rockefeller Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Not a chance!! The palace is way too iconic to not be a winner. Quote
Rich B Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 I agree, too iconic not to be a winner. I wouldn't spend over $100 for it as it's been discounted heavily for the past month or so. Quote
Rich B Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 How many do you own Who are you asking? Me or Stephen? Quote
Rich B Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 I only have 2 if you're asking me. I'm not a huge Star Wars collector though, but still like the SW theme a lot. Quote
stephen_rockefeller Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 I only own 2 at the moment because there will be plenty of time to pick them up before they EOL and I also think that the introduction of the rancor pit likely added to the time that the palace will be available. Quote
Ed Mack Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 I like this set as an investment, but remember investors, to make top dollar from this set, you need to pair it with 75005, Rancor's Pit, to maximize value. For every Jabba's Palace you buy, you need to buy a Rancor's pit. 1 Quote

Very good points! The Palace will definitely be available for awhile. If you're looking to invest money right this second, I would scoop up all the Monster Fighters and Friends sets you like that have been available for awhile (although many of these sets could be available for awhile as well, ya never know). StarPod Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Do you think Racor put will be discounted more? Quote
Ed Mack Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Do you think Racor put will be discounted more?Probably. It has been hovering around $50 for awhile. I can see it hit $45. Quote
Alcarin Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 I think these 2 sets are not so cool as some other iconic sets, while i enjoyed the time looking the movie taking place there I do not liek the look of the sets I passed heavily on all of these Quote
stephen_rockefeller Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 I think you SHOULD pass on sets you don't like personally, if you don't adhere to this principle and the market crashes you are left with a ton of sets you don't like, and that would not be good. Some people like to complain that there are not any opposing views on this site and I disagree 100% with that assertion. There are plenty of opposing views, our members just choose to be non confrontational and respectful when presenting those views. Quote
Ed Mack Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 I like these two sets, but I won't build them. I like vehicles and larger sets to build. They are better displays to build and I was never really was a Jabba fan. Quote

Exactly, for me when deciding to buy a set let it be for investment or for anything else, I always choose based on DISPLAY value, 2nd on my list are minifigures, third is the ''how much I can get for discount) if 2/3 pass I usually buy the set , well ok the budget is also a problem but lets ignore that and lets say on my ''worth buying'' list :P Quote
nolanfan34 Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Also, not really fair to compare it to Endor to begin with. Now that its EOL, 8038 is starting to gain value on eBay at least... Quote
