glucapg Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 I would not buy 9516 at $150 Canadian. Better to pick up something near EOL and, if possible, discounted. Will the new episode increase the value of 9516? just an opinion, of course :-) Quote
jaisonline Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 Will the new episode increase the value of 9516? just an opinion, of course :-) Pretty much all SW sets (epsxially original trilogy) should get a bump in demand when the new film arrives. Quote
Ciglione Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 I have 2 Jabba Palaces and 2 Helm's Deep waiting for me at a Mom & Pop pharmacy. I really hope they run a 25% off toys sale sometime closer to the holidays, but they may be gone by then. Wow! Did you pick up the Ninjago's as well? Quote
exciter1 Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 Wow! Did you pick up the Ninjago's as well? Nope, and I think they are all still there. Actually, they still have one Helm's Deep and a Jabba's Palace left. Quote

snot Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 What's the expert opinion on this set, now that it has reached retired status for some time. Personally I find it's performance disappointing, considering it was featured in popular news articles as being a controversial set. It's value increase seems lackluster. Is it still a set to hold on to for the long run, or dump it and clear up some shelf space? Quote

I did grow above the MSRP value and is continuing to rise slowly as we see... Quote
jaisonline Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 (edited) hi snot, i agree with binici. it's def a set worth holding into for at least another 6 months especially since there isn't another way to get Jabba anymore at retail (sail barge has retired). it was also discounted often during it's 2 year retail life which might explain the slower than expected (for some, not me) ROI. furthermore jabba's palace is a favorite among star wars fans (new and old) in film scenes / plot and toys. after the death star, it's prob ranked 2nd, 3rd, or 4th in terms of popularity with Cloud city and Hoth. The Cantina and Dagoboh are prob in the next tier. i'm holding into all of my NISBs Jabba Palace's and wish more were in my collection. I do have 3 loose ones though (2 sets w/o figures) to build sometime with my kids. my Jabba dream would will be building this... (update : i just purchased the instructions for $17.32 ) http://www.baronsat.net/baronshop/instructions-SW-Jabba-Palace-Support-Rancor.htm It looks awesome and integrates with your existing Jabba's Palace (9516) and Rancor Pit (75005) sets. BrickLegacy Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 My only regret with this set is the room it takes up that could have been used for more R2.I'm holding until Christmas, maybe longer. 1 Quote

bricketycricket Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 As someone who doesn't own this set, and wants to, it looks like it has done really well. From most accounts, people got it well below RRP and now it's selling for well over RRP. It's already at an absurdly high price for such a tiny set so I'm not sure what there is to complain about. zskid00 Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 Respectfully intended anyone who is disappointed:I find your lack of patience disturbing...You are right on! It's Jabba's frickin' palace man! Going to be a winner. Sure, in hindsight we all wish we had invested the money in R2, AA, and Town Hall rather than any regular sets but that vision is 20/20. Quote

bricketycricket Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 It's not as tiny as you think, or maybe from what you saw. There are many large pieces in this set, including Jabba.Well let me put it this way...for the price that it's currently selling for, I could buy a much larger set. But yes I realize there is still some substance to JP. Quote
zskid00 Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 You could say that about a lot of retired sets. 1 Quote
bricketycricket Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 You could say that about a lot of retired sets.Yes, the ones that have done well post-retirement. Which brings us back to my original point: Jabba's Palace is doing well. Quote
redghostx Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 Yes, the ones that have done well post-retirement. Which brings us back to my original point: Jabba's Palace is doing well. But it isn't up 200% in one month, I want instant gratification that I own the correct sets! Quote
Darth_Raichu Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 But it isn't up 200% in one month, I want instant gratification that I own the correct sets! Easy. Just use one of your Deloreans to go back to 2012 and grab all The Zombies set you can find. Quote
redghostx Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 Easy. Just use one of your Deloreans to go back to 2012 and grab all The Zombies set you can find. You need a cannon and rocket fuel to get that little DeLorean up to 88mph Quote
biking_tiger Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 You need a cannon and rocket fuel to get that little DeLorean up to 88mphMaybe it's just 88 scale mph. You could probably push it that fast. 1 Quote
Darth_Raichu Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 You need a cannon and rocket fuel to get that little DeLorean up to 88mph How about using Constitution Train to push it instead ? It worked in movie 3 1 Quote
Sprocket77 Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 You need a cannon and rocket fuel to get that little DeLorean up to 88mph You'd need a cannon and rocket fuel to get a full size DeLorean up to 88mph. Without it breaking up at least Quote
