chinothegeeko
I'm actually glad it will be around a little longer. Only have 3.
@rtisan
I'm actually glad it will be around a little longer. Only have 3. Well, put it this way, you have the opportunity to get more, but those 3 you have now will take longer to gain value
spener90
From what I understand they had production rights into 2013. So being that it is only the 3rd of January, it is entirely possible they ran off there last batch before the year was over, and will sell until they run out. Unless they worked up another deal with LucasArts (Disney?), or whoever they deal with now, this might just be a last hurrah.
Veegs
Didn't TLG say they wouldn't produce more in 2014 after all the negative publicity (which was asinine)? If that is true and I'm not crazy, it still doesn't mean they didn't produce a boatload in the 2013 calendar year to last them through plenty of 2014. That would mean there are a finite number of sets on shelves....panic buy!

supraboy888
Booooyaaaaw! And it will also be back in 2015. Watching this forum is like watching mother in law whining on penny stocks. Every little move by lego is like a major whiplash from a car accident. Ever notice that each week, there is someone posting something about a set being discontinued? What's next? Lets hurry up and discontinue the Maersk ship! I didn't buy that yet!! No wait, maybe it won't discontinue till next year? Or the year after?
nolanfan34
It will be interesting to see if it really continues, or it is just a final production run. Does not surprise me that a few of these sets could have a final burst then just fade out.
Anakinisvader
LEGO, those racists. Actually, they are resellerists. Always mocking the resellers by teasing us into thinking something is going EOL. I bet the same guy that changes the prices all the time on Amazon is the one pressing the "make more" button at LEGO.
waddamon
I hope it retires soon so walmart will clearance it. I have a walmart where the same pile of 20 or so of these has been sitting for quite some time. If i can catch a clearance.deal i plan to get them all. chipbee
Disney is not going to risk religious mini storm over a toy. This will likely be the last of jabba palace forever.
Fcbarcelona101
Disney is not going to risk religious mini storm over a toy. This will likely be the last of jabba palace forever. In the not so distant future, TLG will only produce white bricks to avoid alienating color blind consumers (Architecture Studio was a trial run). Also, they will stop producing "male" and "female" connectors, as they are clearly sexist pieces.
rcdb1984
i have no desire to buy these. i feel like everyone panic bought them all, then they came back, ppl bought those, and now they are still sitting on shelves...No interest here. People need to realize this statement was written by the PR department. They did their job and bought some time and now that media created controversy is long gone. If Lego feels there is more value and profit to be had in continuing to produce 9516 they will keep doing so.

Heh yeah because going completely against your PR department is worth a couple of pennies in the bucket and religous groups, etc. coming out of the woodworks calling you hypocrites. Pretty sure this is the reboxes, etc. they list a date as that is when they will have them all. Last batch and they are gone. TRU just restocked the whole section of star wars (3 TRUs) and no jabba. Lego just isn't going to keep carrying it after not sending it to all the retailers.
asharerin
This was a last big production run and only for the US market. It will no longer be produced. How long it remains in stock at LEGO Shop at Home is anyone's guess. It could be a few weeks, it could be a few months.
Anakinisvader
Just watch the resets at Walmart and Target. Then you will know what is staying and what is going.
Slogghead
LEGO probably ramped up production in 2013 knowing what they stated for 2014. They probably have enough to last until Dec. 2014 as far as supply goes. Same goes for the Rancor pit (which they probably stopped production the first day it hit shelves...lol)
Huskers1236
I have seen very few of these around. If they are reset for 2014, I will be depressed. You would have to think the 4 digit sets would be on the way out, but this and 7965 could be around for a while.

People were buying them for $130 on Ebay while Lego was OOS.
