JoshTX
I stand corrected.......I though for sure Amazon, or any other place for that matter would not be discounting this set anymore. At least now we all know what it will be like when this sets EOLs. What do you mean by that? I'm not sure I understand. If so many of these were purchased during the craze, is it going to hurt the EOL value?

Given their over MSRP sales pre-retirement, what can we expect post-retirement? Will buyers have Jabba fatigue that affects EOL prices? For the "veterans" on the board that have been investing for more than 1-2 years, have you seen any trends among sets that spike in value before EOL? Many people knew it would be back so they didn't purchase any. Can you imagine the frenzy when this set goes EOL for sure? That might be the time to sell for some people, depending what price you got it at. Mine have always been long term investments and I won't change that. I know its better to change your strategy as the market changes but this isn't my sole source of income so im not worried about it.
BigEZ96
I almost feel bad for those who dropped $200+ for this set. The advantage now is everyone that wanted it has one and now large quantities are sitting in warehouses waiting to be discounted. I see it selling at $85 again in the near future! dakotahorn
I think this set clearly differs from Minecraft in that we know when its going to EOL, or at least we have a good idea. Problem is builders know that too. I think this is only only a long term set. I think most price spikes happen after EOL. Because people think they still have time to pick up a set. But all the collectors know they have to get them by EOY 2013.

This hype was definitely much shorter than the Minecraft one. I wonder if it will ever get lower than $85?

blueremains
Jabba's Palace down to $95.96 on AMAZON. Wow, after all that hype last week, things are back to normal. Let the discounting begin!! http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007Q0OVCK/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B007Q0OVCK&linkCode=as2&

My question was really whether investors that have been around awhile have noticed post-EOL trends in value curves for other sets that have seen pre-EOL spikes, not how JP and/or MC will perform individually. If we see a similar trend in performance between these two, we may be able to develop a "rule of thumb" to help in assessing pre-EOL investing in these types of sets. junkie
Jabba is back in stock at both Walmart.com and Amazon is matching that price. Amazon - Jabba's Palace The price might go down again by the end of the year, but for those who want to grab a couple just to be sure, this isn't bad at 20% off, especially considering recent events. dakotahorn
I'm staying away. I think all the builders who want this set... know they have to grab one by EOY. Don't think there will be a lot of builders who pay premium secondary market pricing because they "missed" this set first go around.
grackleflint
FYI, there were 330+ available on Amazon yesterday and right now half are gone with ~160 remaining so people are buying them.
zak001
That didn't take long - back to 20% off on Amazon.
terrymc4677
i was just at my walmarts clearing them out of monster fighters (entire theme is on clearance. don't wait. go now), and they all had the jabba palace back in stock for $96. if target has them again (i didnt check) have them price match and use the red card for an extra 5% off, otherwise $96 is a decent price in my opinion (20% off) on this set. i already have five, which is enough for me at the moment. jaisonline
Back up to MSRP. Jeez, this item's price fluctuates more than amazon's own stock price.
