M4x18
Around late June I bought a 10185 Green Grocer set from a seller on eBay (I don't know if I can or can't post their ID over here). The listing stated that it was a brand new/sealed set and I as always, wrote messages to the seller double checking on the condition of the set, wanting to know if it was really sealed, box condition, etc. Communication with the little bastard went back and forth and he assured me that the box was perfect and sealed. So once I made my mind up, I paid the $560 and had the item sent to my cousin's house in Miami. It sat there for almost 2 months while I thoroughly read the import policies of Spain as I didn't want to pay more for this item. So 2 weeks ago, I asked my cousin to drop the set at a DHL branch to have it sent to Venezuela. I also asked him to repack the box that contained the bag that contained the set so it wouldn't get damaged on the way home with bubble wrap and whatever was necessary to protect my investment. My family received it yesterday. (Insert your favorite expletive here) sent me a fairly damaged, open box set. I am a tad scared as IIRC the building instructions for these large modular sets come all contained in a sort of pack with a cardboard and wrapped in plastic. All the pieces are in their plastic bags, or at least I hope so. Is there a page where I can check how many bags are supposed to be in this set? As the purchase was made a long time ago I am unable to request eBay assistance on this. So there you have it, another purchase on eBay gone wrong. $560 was a high price for this set back then, I could have bought it from a trusted eBay Lego seller for a bit more, but in this case I went for the cheaper price, resulting in this headache. Bottom line, for all the eBay buyers, pay serious attention to the seller's feedback, nothing gives a more accurate description of their services than previous customers feedback. StarCityBrickCompany
Is there a page where I can check how many bags are supposed to be in this set? There are 12 #1 bags (First Floor), 9 #2 bags (Second Floor), & 14 #3 bags (3rd Floor & Roof). There is also 1 un-numbered bag which consisted of a few larger parts for each section, and the 2 baseplates.

Desultor
If I recall correctly, the Green Grocer's instructions are loose in the box. I believe they started bagging them like comic books (in a sleeve with cardboard) later.
Ed Mack
Here's the thing with any sealed retired LEGO set...they all can be tampered with. Seals can be removed and reapplied. Pieces can be taken out and replaced with BS ones. As Max said, buy from a reputable seller and you won't have an issue.

Darth_Raichu
I am afraid your 45 days window for opening a case with Paypal has long passed. Next time ask your cousin in Miami to open the package immediately and take multiple pictures from every angle. By doing this you can inspect your goods and fix any problem right away. This has been a fairly expensive lesson, but perhaps you can sell whatever you've got to recoup some of the money
M4x18
I found this website and they show a picture of the bags for each nummeration, apparently my set is complete. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=29342
M4x18
I have found some interesting information regarding this set and I'm curious to find out your take on this. Are there variations on this set? I ask this as I suppose that the XXXX-1, XXXX-2 or XXXX-3 presented over here on BP stand for variations. I have found on some sites that I have the right amount of bags while on others I am short. Also I have found in the same page that stated more bags than the ones that I have that there was a cardboard tray on this set, something that I realized was missing from my early 90s sets. Mos_Eisley
I opened a lot of these and none of them had any kind of tray insert and the instructions were not bagged yet. Another important thing to remember is that customs can, and sometimes does, open packages. If they open something that contains a sealed item, they may still choose to open and inspect the item. Since it was never checked in the U.S., I wouldn't be surprised at all if it was sealed and then opened by customs.
