wholovesboo
Is there some sort of penalty when a bidder cancels/retracts their bid? (Also is there a difference between retraction and cancellation?). Thanks.
DoNotInsertIntoMouth
No unless they do it a lot I think. its irritating - happens a lot on offers. Ebay pisses me off with their catering to buyers. Unpaid items don't matter Cancellations of bids or offers don't matter. If the buyer buys something by mistake and wants to return it, you are out the shipping (IN this case, if ebay is so about us giving returns, THEY should cover return shipping both ways) Can't leave buyer negative feedback Buyers can leave you trash feedback with no penalty. justafrog
The solution to bid retractions is not to run auctions. one of the many good reasons. All sellers in any setting have to cope with buyer issues. If we were operating brick and mortars, we'd have to worry about shoplifters and parking problems instead.

Makes sense Still trying to build up my feedback, though, so I've been running auctions. In the hopes that one day I'll be able to raise my prices once my feedback score is high enough to ease buyer hesitation.
justafrog
Gotcha. For feedback, try finding everything you need to buy on eBay first, it can build it up fast and not cost you any more than buying stuff local in many cases.
