fuzzy_bricks Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 Just checked the retiring soon tag on LEGO Shop at Home and there is some items I hadn't seen before. I know you can't bank on the RS tag, but thought I'd share. Sorry if I missed this elsewhere. http://shop.lego.com/en-US/catalog/productListing.jsp?_requestid=9754559 Lone Ranger line Echo Base Palpatine Arrest Some Hobbit 1 Quote
Achilles Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 This is all stuff we all pretty much theorized would be retiring here. I am very interested in the LR line. Because of the short run, could these shoot up after retirement ala DINO? They could be under the radar investments. I am a little more suprised that the Battle of Hoth is retiring quite so quickly. Quote
exciter1 Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 I haven't gone deep on Hoth Echo Base, since I only have one. I'm wondering if I should get a few more? Quote
nolanfan34 Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 Some interesting ones in there for sure! Mostly stuff we had speculated on. Of course like you said the RS tag seems to not necessarily indicate a true definition of the word "soon". Unimog, train station, some Ninjago were interesting ones to me. Would love to see Epic Dragon Battle with that title. Quote
Achilles Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 I've gotten several Echo Base that I paid 60-70 for each. Some of you guys are obviously way more skilled (and with deeper pockets) than I, but I think it's a worthwhile gamble. My TRU locally are now out of them. I do think it's worth noting that a few off the Wave I Hobbit sets ARE on this list, but Unexpected Gathering and Mirkwood spiders are not. Quote
amnesiac Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 This is GREAT news!!! I just got back from picking up 7 Constitution trains for 64.99 a piece. I love this set and already thought it would bring some good returns but with such a short lifespan I feel even better about it. Gonna pick up a few more after lunch 1 Quote
odysea11 Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 And the Robie House finally. All this news is a bit of an early Christmas present. Thanks Lego Quote
Jackson Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 This is GREAT news!!! I just got back from picking up 7 Constitution trains for 64.99 a piece. From where? Quote
exciter1 Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 From where? I'm guessing at Toys R Us. I think I'll pick-up a couple more today too, just to be safe. I should be able to use a Wendy's coupon for each train purchase. Quote
Treme Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 From where? TRU. Doesn't stack with Wendy's coupons but does with the CC 10% today only. Quote

jaisonline Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 Great list of sets added with the retiring soon tag. 75014 (Hoth) is a surprise as it only had a 1 yr run so far. The Lone Ranger train should do fine. 10229 (Winter village) will be a winner...just wish we can get these discounted. The Hobbit sets will do fine especially the cheaper Riddles for the Ring, Quote

exciter1 Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 Train is a hot price item and won't stack unless you have a manger override. I thought it was just one of the 50% off items. None of the 50% off items are Hot Price? Quote
Doofy McGee Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 This is a huge list of retiring items. Lego actually sent me an email entitled "Get retiring Lego sets before they're gone forever!" There are five pages of things now designated as retiring soon. I am kind of surpised by this move. Usually Lego makes an effort to guard retirement status, and now they just flat out announce it to the world. Weird. Quote

Treme Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 I thought it was just one of the 50% off items. None of the 50% off items are Hot Price? It's a hot price item all the time, even when it's not on sale. Look at the shelf tag and if it says "HP" on it, Wendy's coupons or anything else that excludes hot price won't work. I think the mine does work, but the showdown is hot price and won't. It's all kind of random... 1 Quote
exciter1 Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 Technic: Rescue Helicopter (9396) surprises me a little. Quote
Sauromosis Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 Okay dudes, post some good deals on the largest ones. Quote
@rtisan Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 Wow. Shame there aren`t any sales on any of this stuff up here at the moment. Not too many worth getting at retail (CAN retail at that) but will keep my eyes posted. Guess it is time to get the LR stuff for my collection though, been holding out for some time now. ~6 months retail. My goodness, the theme may not be a dud after all. EDIT: No Funhouse on the list!?! Quote
jaisonline Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 Its a trap...nuff said Man, you beat me to the quote. So I'll type, "it's a frakin trap for 'investors'!" Anyway, the retiring tag is a marketing reps dream. Reduces effort needed by them. Quote

Sauromosis Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 It would be pathetic of Lego to send the email and update the status of the items and therefore, I do not believe it's a trap. Quote
