Pokeshop
Keep an eye on amazon and SAH. It will come back sporadically. For what it's worth. Received my ToO ordered 10/13 from S&H along with train in perfect condition, but with Factory seals of 40R5. The ones received from Target's last restock few days ago, 23R5. JRandall
I personally believe this set is both over-bought and over-valued. Maybe not overseas, but I don't believe there is a ton of demand because there simply isn't anywhere near the LOTR fanbase for LEGO as their are for the movies or books. Not even comparable to Star Wars or Lego Super Heroes. Maybe AFOLs will have some interest in the future, but of the thousands of these maybe the one thing that will keep them up in value will be the colors and design.. I personally just don't see the demand there. LEGO group is bringing these exclusives back for the nth time now and unless you're holding for years you may not get more than $50 out of them for a $350 sale when all is said and done, and that could take 2 years. It could be another Helms Deep, rises and then stagnates for years. Edited October 20, 2015 by JRandall

Veegs
I agree. This one is a dust collector. Is money dust now? Anyone that wants to sell at MSRP right now will probably find a lot of buyers, including me.

newbie77
Is money dust now? Anyone that wants to sell at MSRP right now will probably find a lot of buyers, including me.selling at MSRP after buying at MSRP results in a net loss scenario which i am thinking no one will do unless they are desperately wanting to get out of the game
BrickLegacy
Apparently Amazon won't let me buy any more (shipping glitch) so they are making up my mind for me. I probably have enough already though.
gbg108
No one will want these, best to sell now...I would but I'm too embarrassed to make it public that I already bought this turd. I'm such a fool. Now they're just gonna sit there for years, worthless.
emonster
anyone want to get rid of theirs? I am interested in buying 10 at MSRP. Only in Montreal area.
landphieran
This set reminds me of the ugly girl/boy friend you had in high school, who you see 4 years later and wished you had stuck around.
eyebrow40
I agree. This one is a dust collector.Well, yesterday i sold my first out of 8 for 280 Euros. Buy in was 180… so exactly 100 Euros profit. (no fees!)From now on i love dust!
Veegs
selling at MSRP after buying at MSRP results in a net loss scenario which i am thinking no one will do unless they are desperately wanting to get out of the game I was obviously being both sarcastic and making a point. I'm honestly just a little incredulous that some investors in this thread are unhappy with their ToOs and think it is fair to say that it wouldn't be hard to unload them at a break even point if they think it is going to be such a dud. You know sometimes it's really hard to tell a sarcasm, a joke... online when people can't see one's expression or hear the tone of one's voice. I do believe there's a need for a sarcasm sign, at least an emoji... lol
mfortunek
No one will want these, best to sell now...Honestly don't even sell them. Just find anyone who will take one and just get rid of it. The boxes have too many fall colors (it's almost winter), they take up too much shelf space, and it doesn't even come with a single hobbit, elf or dwarf minifigure. They're your whole demographic. This one is a stinkfest.
mudcatsfan
Here's how i see this set. Some AFOL's want a set that non-lego fans will see and say, "WHOA,,,,that's Lego?"They want an impressive display piece. They want something that looks screen accurate. This is the ONLY set from the LOTR / Hobbit series that accomplishes most of those requirements. (maybe the Unexpected Gathering does at a smaller scale)
