JoshB Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 I still have 15 of the Falcon 7965 and will be holding on to them, I see no reason why these will not increase in price, it could explode in Dec, but sooner or later they will, there will be millions of new Lego Star Wars investors and fans with the new movies coming out, so don't panic sell just hold on to them and they will do OK. EdI see 7965 increasing well in value, especially since it is from the Original Trilogy. I think that will be key. Even if the new Lego Falcon is superior in looks and functions there are too many Star Wars fans that will still have their strongest ties to the OT despite the release of EP7. And of the OT Falcons Lego has produced (except for the UCS Falcon), 7965 is superior in looks and it displays the best. Yes, the new Falcon will overshadow 7965, but I believe it will be merely temporary. I think it would be a good idea to stash a couple of 7965's for a while until we ride out the EP7 hype. You just can't go wrong with one of the most iconic ships from the OT. Plus, I can see the new trilogy creating more interest in the OT, and since the OT it is just that--the original--the demand for OT iconic ships will only increase. In the end, I think it just boils down to the extremely large following the OT has created and I don't see the new trilogy of Star Wars movies adversely affecting that following. The OT's fan-base will only continue to grow. 1 Quote
jaisonline Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 Much optimism in this thread, many are. I don't have a horse in this race but it seems many seasoned investors (along with the panic attack people) are dumping now. Why not sell now and buy back when the market value is lower? ...and the price will "continue" (key word being continue) decreasing for some period of time. Quote

Why not sell now and buy back when the market value is lower? ...and the price will "continue" (key word being continue) decreasing for some period of time. Why not sell now (with pretty good value) and invest in something that's a better investment for the future? ;-)A lot of people here are holding on to this set because they are HOPING (and I think falsely so...) that it will appreciate much more even after the new set comes out. It's a personal decission of course, but to me this feels more like gambling in a casino where you win something after a short time... maybe just putting in 10 dollar and then winning 100 dollar... and you just continue because worst case scenario you will stop at ... let's say 20 dollar... so you wouldn't have actually lost anything. But you want to go on because you wanna see more than these 100 dollars you've already won... at least let it be 200... or let's say 1000! One hour later you decide that you just as well can spend the last 10 dollar and try your luck to win back the 100 dollar you just lost... and when that money is gone... well it was a nice evening for only 10 dollar! So a win/win right? With this kind of mindset (which is absolutely fine, if you're just in for the fun of it and don't mind spending 10 dollar for a nice evening, which is rather cheap!) people hold on to their sets... instead of selling them now, making a pretty good profit! and investing the money elsewhere for better profit. This is just my opinion. I'm already out of the game since I sold all my copies and am happy with the outcome. (I'm the boring guy who came out of the casino with the 90 dollar he won...). 1 Quote
chezzzuk Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 Why not sell now (with pretty good value) and invest in something that's a better investment for the future? ;-)This is common sense and has been stated time and time again but the big problem is what is a better set to invest in. There is no definitive answer and it might be another gamble that end badly. I guess that is why a lot of people prefer to hold on to their existing sets in the hope that they will outperform any other sets that they could have invested in. Quote
emazers Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 Look I had 50 of these paid $60-80 a piece, I have 15 left and I am waiting to see what happens around Christmas, There is no way this set will be a dud when the new one is released, sure the price could fall some, but take my word people will want both Falcons and the price will rise again and stay high, If I was a Collector I would want both, so on the 35 I sold I made enough to get lots of other stuff, mainly Sidney Opera, Tumblers,Ewok's. So unless you need the money I would hold on to some of these. Make your mind up either way if not it will just drive you crazy day and night. Ed 5 Quote

emazers Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 I been getting a Tumbler or 2 every month, I always get them at the Lego Store, all Mint Boxes. If you are only looking to get 5-10 its no hurry but I am shooting for 40 or more. Ed 1 Quote
Guest brickcrazyhouse Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 ed- which lego store do you go to? or both? and has anyone asked "why so many if the same sets?" Quote
Locutus001 Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 Ed's the guy who buys MF for 10$ and sells them for 500$ ;-PI always appreciate to read Eds opinion about sets (because most of the cases it confirms what I already thought in the first place...) but his strategy is on totally different level (as already often "discussed") from the average brickpicker.Buying the MF for that price (and not everyone could do that I guess...) and selling 35 of them for what it goes now on ebay he already made more than enough money to be able to keep these 15MF and still make profit... even selling them for only 100$.Average Joe who owns 3-10 MF and bought them for somewhere around the normal price might need a different approach. jerryherb Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 i got two stores in the vicinity and one of them has this old grumpy manager lady that always asks how many more of "x" are you gonna get? the other store wants me to spend as much as i can carry. go figure...i wish i had the space and a budget like Emazers, before i do there will be too much competition it seems.
