There was a Stephen Rockefeller post from January IIRC saying to dump them by May. That could well have been  very good advice if there is mass panic and the hoarders unleash them on the market all at once. I still say, let the storm pass and keep one under the bed.

I agree. I'll still post my (2) that I want to sell on ebay, but at the price I want.

Then I'll sit back and wait. If they sell before September 4th.... fine. If not no skin off my back.

I think it has to do with supply and demand, for the most part...

So yesterday buyers were willing to pay $250+ for it but today they will only pay $225. That is all free market magic and has nothing to do with impatient and panicking sellers fighting to see who can get the lowest price and sell theirs the fastest? If everyone left theirs at $250 or above today they wouldn't sell anymore because.... why exactly?

More supply (ie. more sellers) and the demand stays the same.  Panicking sellers are still part of econ 101, as in this is our future people, get used to it :D

Fwiw I pulled two more from a pile of SW sets that I had forgotten about. A quick scan of sales prices on my phone and listed them last night at $220 + shipping. So far 1 has sold. At an $80 buy in I'm pleased with the return.

This bickering above reminds me of the phrase "Pigs get slaughtered.".

I always liked the fable about the dog and his reflection in the water... something about bones.

As far as supply and demand goes, the price is affected by perceived drop in demand. It's all speculation and too much emotion right now. This is the way of the stock market as well. Stick to your plans and leave the emotions on the shelf.

the panic seller-induced breakdown in the 7965 market over the last day (and coming days) has been pretty spectacular, exposing yet another facet of the brickpicker reseller hoard effect when lots of people decide to sell all at once -  no matter the price.  race to the bottom might have us testing 150- bin & auctions are ending/selling  for 170-180.  two days ago they were selling for 240-260.  we don't even have a picture yet. just a name and a few numbers.  glad i sold in may and went away.  i might have to get back in and pick up a few if the get down to msrp.  even 7965 will have a dead cat bounce.

I have been dropping hints for a two months about the new Falcon being a mid sized 7965 clone since I was told what the new price of the set was, so people need to pay attention to some of the subtlest things I mention at times. Even last week, before the partial list of new STAR WARS sets was released to confirm my source, I told everyone a new Falcon was coming and it was not a UCS set. Those who payed attention unloaded their 7965s, others, well, it's too late. Time to hold on long term.
