mscheaf Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 My local Walmart still has 8 of these @140 + 5.5% sales tax. Boxes pretty beat up. Just can't bring myself to buy. Talk to a manager. They are authorized to lower the price if they want to get rid of them bad enough Quote
exciter1 Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 Talk to a manager. They are authorized to lower the price if they want to get rid of them bad enough YMMV - The managers at our Wal-Marts say they have no control over the prices. Quote
trekgate502 Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 Wow there WAS a ton of eBay $199.99 for sale right above my $199.95 and they are all gone. its now $215-225 range. Hmmm.... Quote
Val-E Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 Here we have moved up from 120 euros a month ago to reach RRP of 160 euros including shipping but recent sales are stuck there. I don Quote
Yinchuan Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 My walmart has had a clearance rack with the same ninja turtle and Ninjago sets at the same lousy discount since JULY. They won't budge an inch. Quote
mscheaf Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 (edited) Crazy. I have gotten discounts a number of times at Walmart. Last time was the Unexpected Gatherings just a month ago. I got the toy manager over there and asked him how much the clearly marked sets were. He said $49. I sighed and said they were old and I figured they would have gone down by now. He said $35 and I said sold. I could be wrong, but I get the feeling if a manager there says they can't do something for you, they are lying because they don't want to help you or are lazy or they are just ignorant of the rules. I doubt they would do it for me and risk their jobs if it was against corporate policy. But who knows, maybe it was Stan Kroenke's son. Edited December 16, 2014 by mscheaf 1 Quote

That's kind of my assumption, but you'll never get help if you are not cordial and just go on about your day. Quote
JDLego324 Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 (edited) Just sold two on ebay for $199.95 each including Priority Mail shipping. Picked these up from Amazon earlier this year for about $78 each. Have two more that I am going to hold. Edited December 17, 2014 by JDLego324 Quote

mscheaf Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 Raise your prices folks! I know, my $220 isnt getting any looks with all the lowballers popping up Quote
nolanfan34 Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 Pshhhhh. If it's truly gone it's not going down after Christmas. Keep selling at $199 folks. 1 Quote
JDLego324 Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 (edited) I know, my $220 isnt getting any looks with all the lowballers popping up I thought about pricing them at $220, but I decided that I really did want to sell them. Now. Listing them at the same price as 100 other people is not a good strategy if you really want to sell something with any urgency. Maybe you have more patience. My expectations were not very high on this one, and I bought in only because of some deep discounts. The majority here, without doubt, was pretty down on this set. Out too long, too many versions, new version likely coming out, blah blah blah. It's funny how opinion can flip in a hurry once something appears EOL. I do think it will go higher as Christmas approaches, and it will hold into next year. Long term, not sure. Edited December 17, 2014 by JDLego324 Quote
Yinchuan Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 (edited) If I can turn a millennium falcon into a Tower Bridge, I will consider that a nice little investment upgrade and call it a day! Edited December 17, 2014 by Yinchuan 1 Quote
tmock12 Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 I know, my $220 isnt getting any looks with all the lowballers popping up Maybe try free shipping? I had mine at $210 this morning. no biters. set it to $235 with free shipping and it was gone 21 minutes later. Quote
JDLego324 Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 If I can turn a millennium falcon into a Tower Bridge, I will consider that a nice little investment upgrade and call it a day???? Bingo. I have been picking up a lot of near-EOL exclusives (with double points and freebie sets), and the proceeds from these Falcons are helping fund them. Quote

Val-E Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 Picked my order up today and the seals are 44S4 - thank god for that! Quote
beartrapper Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 Stoked that I picked up 4 of these from TRU last week. Now if only I could turn my Vampyre Castles and Helms Deep into 7965's. Quote
Val-E Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 I wish I could turn my 7965s into 10179s! Quote
stoltzjl77 Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 So is the consensus that if we see these in the wild they are a buy even at RRP? I've seen several on shelves at WM's nearby, I've passed hoping they will last until the post-Christmas clearance - but I'm starting to think it's not safe to wait. Whaddya think? Quote
templesweeper Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 I would buy at full price at this point, though obviously you're going to need to be satisfied with less of a profit margin. But there's no way this set won't appreciate in value. Like I said in an earlier post, it's the last classic Falcon set that they'll make for a really, really long time. Quote
