Were you watching 60 Minutes?

Nope, a friend sent it to me.

Was your friend watching 60 Minutes? lol. They had a segment with Jeff Bezos and they actually talked about this for a couple minutes and showed how it works. Great stuff, but still on diapers.

Funny.  I imagine that with a 25 minute battery life and a top speed of 15 mpg, these deliveries could happen if you live across the street from an Amazon facility.  Would be fun to shoot some of these down, though.  Try making some deliveries to the hood.  You will never see them again.

So many lawsuits....

If Jeff Bezo can make that work, he might as well buy up all the Walmarts, Targets and liquor stores with his over-inflated stock then turn them all into distribution centers.  I would love to have these drones send me bottles of scotch through my window within 30 minutes.

i'd shoot that thing down like katniss and take my SSD, k thx bai.

I'm sure they deliver Scuzzlebutt too (with the Patrick Duffy leg).

Am I the only one excited about getting tons of those sturdy looking yellow plastic boxes from Amazon Prime Air ?  I can sell those easily on eBay (or Amazon ;) ) Finally, a way to make money off of the shipping materials  :money:

I don't even care if they ever do it. The fact they are even thinking about it is awesome. Bezos is the new Jobs IMO.

I love it.

Well this is truly game changing. It will be interesting to see how Amazon's share price reacts tomorrow. When Air becomes available it will be the end of big box retail as we know it. Fedex and UPS will also be quaking in their boots. Also interesting is the set top box they are working on to provide ala carte streaming of media. Say goodbye to cable and dish. I love how Bezos is grounded enough to know Amazon won't last forever as well.

This is certainly interesting but they are definately going to need bigger/stronger drones to ship most goods as that yellow container barely looked large enough for a battlepack esque sized set. I honestly keep seeing some yokel sitting in their front yard taking potshots at each one that flies past.

I'm wondering how they're going to keep them from maiming toddlers and household pets who might be hanging out on the front porch. Our Jack Russell Terrier would strenuously object to airborne invaders and try her best to take it out.

Bezos says they are all automated. I am guessing with the first gen drones you would lay out a landing pad that the drones would lock onto once they get to the correct GPS co-ordinates. Hopefully customers would be smart enough to have people and pets stand clear of the pad lol.

I checked my calendar after seeing the video... Nope, not April 1st.

Interesting..........many years away though I suspect.

I had an English Bulldog who I know would have loved to 'play' with one of these drones if given the chance. He more than likely would have run head first into the fence in an effort to get the damn thing. Dumbass....

They're gonna need to improve the battery life a bit to get them across the Pacific Ocean to me!

It`ll be like shooting *****! And I get prizes!! Oh goody, yes please!!!   :hunter::vinsent:

Apparently the filter doesn't` like that word. Oops.  I`ll use "clay " instead.

Most elaborate publicity stunt ever!

Well, of course technology is advancing everyday to the point of replacing human workers to do the same thing. Hell, there was an episode of The Twilight Zone back in 1967 about automation ultimately replacing the human work force called "The Brain Center at Whipple's".

However, the couterpoint to that is now you need human workers whom handle fixing the automatous contraptions of our own design....unless we come up with automated repair units but then who or what fixes those?
