lego rules
Will these be decent investments?
Veegs
I can't resist adding a couple more Mad Scientists. I think with all the VC hype that the other sets will be solid investments. I'd venture to guess you could double your money or so at this price point by next Christmas...certainly by the following Halloween. Plus I love the light brick! Hansolo55
Got the code to work now. Ordered 3 Crazy Scientist sets which works out to $106 before tax using the code. I think this set will do well and was just announced yesterday as retired! I wish I could duplicate this order 10 more times but I don't have the capital right now lol

super26
I would grab as much Monster Fighter 9466 as I can, as this set is retired from the Lego Store and should be a great investment down the road. Here's what you should do: 1. Buy the products from Toys R US (Canada) at regular price. 2. Pay with PayPal (to get 5% cashback. Don't forget to sign up for the 5% cashback promo first. Your 5% cashback starts on your 2ND purchase) 3. Give Toys R US (Canada) a call and ask them to do the price adjustment with Sears.ca, and don't forget you get an additional 10% off. 4. and as a extra bonus, for all those AIRMILES collectors out there. You get 2x AIRMILES points when shopping at Toys R US (Canada) if you shop thru http://www.airmilesshops.ca/shops/airmilesshops/Home (AIRMILESSHOPS.CA) LEGO 9466 - http://shop.lego.com/en-CA/The-Crazy-Scientist-His-Monster-9466 (Retired) Toys R US Price Match: PLUS we'll give an additional 10% of the Competitor's advertised retail price if the difference of the Price Match is more than 5%. http://www.toysrus.ca/shop/index.jsp?categoryId=11770205

Hansolo55
The only thing is Toys R Us won't match the $10 off coupon. You'd still come out ahead with this whole process but it does seem like a lot of work lol Plus I find Toys R Us hates price matching unless it's shown in a flyer. super26
Its a lot of work. yes. Or you can just buy it at the store and PM them with Sears

In store might be an issue, but I was able to PM doing it online. They will verify the price themselves.
@rtisan
That`s a great deal! Glad I didn`t buy Weathertop at $56 yesterday. My only concern is the shipping with Sears. I don`t want these sets for me, and certainly do not want them smashed. Anyone have thoughts?
lego rules
They come in decent condition if you ship to a sears store. Nowhere near mint though.
@rtisan
They come in decent condition if you ship to a sears store. Nowhere near mint though. Ok fair enough. Hard to lose at this price, but I`m just not sure on the gain. I`ve placed 2 orders with Sears, both of which weren`t pretty. Didn`t ship to store though. I might consider going in store for a price match at TRU though. Plenty of Crazy Scientist there yesterday, though no Weathertop.
lego rules
Which is the better buy of the two?
Hansolo55
Which is the better buy of the two? I would choose the Crazy Scientist set over the Weathertop, But that's just me. I think both have good potential, but there's always a chance with LOTR sets that the figures could be duplicated in later released sets. The only thing going for the Weathertop is the figures included at this point. If those figures are re-released the value could plateau or even come down quite a bit. With the Monster fighter theme you can be sure nothing like this theme will ever be produced. I think the Crazy Scientist set is a fun and unique build with a couple interesting minifigures and some cool pieces. A home run at this price. What are other peoples thoughts? super26
I would also pick the Monster Fighter set over the other set just because the monster Fighter set is retired. I think that it will be a great investment down the road. And at 40% off its a no brainer. If the set hasn't retired yet, I would say if you want to wait for the next round of 50% off, go ahead.. But since it's retired, there might not be a chance for you to get it at 50% anymore after this. Retired monster set also means the monster fighter minifigure wont be produce in another set. Making them unique. Just my 0.02. What do you guys think?
lego rules
I believe both sets are retired.
