mrsmavrik Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 I know this has been discussed before many time, but with December around the corner I thought i would start a poll Quote
DoNotInsertIntoMouth Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 R2D2 will still be around for quite a while. DS will never retire. SSD is probably gone at the end of this year, hopefully. Bwing is already done I am 99% sure. Quote
Guest eightbrick Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 NEVER? Well, not until those rebels can finally hit that darned thermal exhaust port, no. Quote
srm_520 Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 IMO - R2-D2 is one of the most creative and amazing sets UCS I have ever seen save 10179. However, I think the SSD and it will see around the same returns even though I think the B-Wing will retire before both of them. If R2-D2 retire by May, then it may outpace SSD, but if if it goes through the next holiday season which it certainly may - then tie. Quote
DoNotInsertIntoMouth Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 NEVER? Doubt it. Been out for almost 5 years and counting. Quote
CNH1974 Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Bwing is already done I am 99% sure. Yeah Its that rotten 1% of people at TLC you have to worry about I voted B-Wing retiring first and SSD for greatest growth, assuming its $$$$/ Quote
kenchu2000 Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 The 2 Lego stores in my area had SSD out of shelves for couple months, but they are now fully restocked. Not sure if it means anything, probably just getting ready for the holiday season I guess. Quote

binici Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Hi guys! I would like to know which set I should purchase two of as of right now. I'd like to build one and invest in the other. Sorry, a bit OT, but all these sets look amazing and no doubt will be in demand when they are retired... Thanks! Quote

MartinP Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 For me, I think that the B-wing is going to retire first even though it has been sold out on LEGO Shop at Home for a while now. I think that R2-D2 will do the best after EOL. It is the most recognizable set out of all of them. Quote

Both are great, so you can't go wrong with either. Quote
boliramirez Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 I hope SSD as I just got a great deal on a MISB Two days Ago.... 1 Quote

h311m4n Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 One thing I don't understand, the SSD has been around longer than the B-wing yet everybody things it'll retire first? Isn't the lifespan of a set usually 2 years in which case it would make sense for the B-wing to be around another year and the SSD to retire? I have seen 0 discounts over here for the B-wing to be honest...and I make it rule to almost never buy anything at retail lol. Quote

Everyone thinks that the B-wing will retire first because on May 4th and 5th, the set was 50% off at LEGO Shop at Home in the USA. Since then, the set has been sold out on LEGO Shop at Home US. Quote
CNH1974 Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 I think as lego is enjoying a renaissance they have been keeping popular sets out longer. 10193 was available for 4 years, FB is nearing its fourth, TB is into its third. And of course 10188 & 7741 are both going into their 6th years of production. Quote
Guest TabbyBoy Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Hopefully the B Wing as I ordered my first one yesterday at Quote
boliramirez Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Well for those that think that the set cycles would be extended, I hope they would have a little knowledge about the toy bussines, more so, the injection molding bussiness. I worked over 6 years for Mattel and now I own and injection molding facility.. In order for any company to keep products longer that their normal life cycle they need to invest more or increase their expenses, why ?? There are only two options, make a large production run of the sets and then Store them ( not a good practice at all ) or invest in expanding their production plants to accomodate the new lines they are just starting and run all the old stuff they have and not forget to expand their warehouse to accomodate all the carton and instruction sheets and and plastic bags and resin pigments....ohh !! and dont forget the Packing lines, there is one for each product, so they would need more space to have all the lines available..... Yeah I think it is a good bussiness strategy to extend a product line and overlap the new with the old........ Quote
ZULU Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 No more B Wing in stock at LEGO.Com in Belgium The EOL is near...? Retired? Quote
MartinP Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 No more B Wing in stock at LEGO.Com in Belgium The EOL is near...? Retired? B-Wing is out of stock in the USA and now Belgium. EOL is near. . . ? That is questionable. Quote
ZULU Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 no more b-wing in lego.com / Belgium time to get your set before it has gone ... retired? probably Quote
