exciter1 Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 I got one the other day on an Unexpected Gathering. I'm debating as to whether or not I should remove it. I guess I will, I'm going downstairs right now to start removing stickers from all my KMart clearance purchases anyway. Quote
hockeypunk05 Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 They came off my xwings easily. I doing know if the shiny vs matte boxes might make a difference. Quote
MartinP Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 I can understand security tags on $100+ Lego sets, but $40 ones I would not like that. Quote
remy1492 Posted November 9, 2013 Author Posted November 9, 2013 But 100$ lego sets are HUGE. i guess there must be a reason. Marking high rwturn items or marking high theft items. As a former loss prevention guy it baffles me. Not easy to steal. And nobody pays attention to the door beep anyways. No real deterrant. Quote
sadowsk1 Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Nothing wrong with a little branding and security. Quote
exciter1 Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 I'd much rather have these than those stupid bands around the boxes. My Wal-Marts started using the band security method around here as well. This sticker came off, no problem with a hair dryer and razor blade. Quote
shizzybond Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 TRU has the same stickers as well had one on my Palpatine arrest.... Quote
remy1492 Posted November 9, 2013 Author Posted November 9, 2013 I just peeled mine off with no marks and little effort. I could do it in the store just the same and then steal it. So whats the use? 1 Quote

Yeah, that was my thought too. That doesn't look like it will prevent anyone who would really want a $40 LEGO set. I don't really have a problem with it, but it seems like a waste of effort. Quote
Dark Helmet Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 And nobody pays attention to the door beep anyways. No real deterrant. Funny you should say that. I just bought two sets yesterday from Target and the security beep went off. I looked around and no one looked my way. None of the cashers even cared to look. Makes you wonder how easy it would be to get away with stuff if you werent an honest person. Quote

I keep hearing a security beep go off every once in a while and no one cares to look. If they were not looking someone could get away with a lot of stuff including Lego sets. Quote
wholovesboo Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 I figure they've got plain clothes security and security cameras following any suspicious looking shoppers around. But yeah those door alarms are about as useful as car alarms. Just background noise. I seem to always set those things off when going INTO a store. Quote

You'd probably get away with it once. The second time, the plain-clothes security guy would have you eating asphalt. Quote
jaredseiders Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 I used to work at a kmart. We busted a guy stealing legos and dvds once. He got away the first time and came back. He would go to the infants department and open up a stroller box. They have a lot of empty space inside. He would then fill it up with dvds, games and legos and then buy the stroller at checkouts. We checked out the surveillance once we noticed the new releases all cleared out. He came back two days later, returned the stroller, and tried to do it again. His picture had been disbursed to all the local retail outlets, and not just kmarts. All of those loss prevention guys help each other out. Quote
krayzie Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 I worked at circuit city a long time ago and they made us wrap all the rap and Hispanic cds in multiple layers of packaging tape... Quote

Guest brickcrazyhouse Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 I think the stickers are for the loss prevention dept. to see if the items turn up at flee markets, with all the other retail stolen items. Does it stop anyone? nope. Quote
DoNotInsertIntoMouth Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 I haven't seen these anywhere, My walmarts all use the strings though - ruin all my boxes. Quote
