Gift cards sure are useful when you can get GBHQ for a touch over $406:frantics:

To those searching for GBHQ they should be out back of most stores round the country by now, but some stores are refusing to sell before the sale.

Keep trying a few different stores and you should hit a store with stock and staff willing to sell it.

Nice price. Can't find any worthwhile gift card discounts myself tho. Yeh I get the feeling the big sets are hidden away.

BigW always keep large expensive sets out back in "the cage" as they call it.

Audio Visual desk staff are usually the best people to ask, sometimes toy staff are a bit clueless.

I got my cards earlier in the year when they had 10% off and I stacked another egift card discount at the time to get 14.5% off.

Good info. I'll ask today. Seems the Big w gods heard my plea and stuck their 8% cards up again.

Jesaulenko you beauty!

I will be grabbing some more of them and visiting BigW tomorrow night. If I can get a Firehouse and SC I'll be very happy indeed.

I'm relatively new to this game so take my opinion with a grain of salt but I like this set as an investment. I'm not into comic books by any stretch either but this is the only UCS equivalent for Marvel.

Not going into the specifics of the set - see the 76042 thread for that - but factor in things like shipping weight and potential changes to import duties from 1 July 2017 and this an other 'exclusives' are only get more expensive and difficult to import.

One other thing to look at is the current going rate on eBay which is pretty much break even at RRP. To me that bodes well for retirement.

I'm by no means in this game for serious cash but if I can get a few Helicarriers at 30% off RRP then if I can QFLL one or two and hold onto one for long term I'll be very happy.

But where oh where to get that elusive 30%?

I'm going on the assumption (which could be very wrong!) that BigW will have 20% off Lego. So with their normal price of $475 having 20% off that's $380. Using 8% off gift cards you get $349.60 which is almost smack bang 30% off RRP of $499.

If the sale is 10% off then you're looking at 23% off RRP with 8% gift cards.

If there is no discount you're looking at 12% off RRP.

We'll know how good it is on the 16th June.

I seen the catalogue before it was taken down.HC was listed as $475 and Sandcrawler was $380 or something.

But I certainly hope I'm wrong and it's lower. My local store finally admitted that they have HC out the back, but not for sale yet.

All 8 of them.

had a look at big w melbourne central/QV today - nothing!

They had their arse kicked last time for advertising a product available on X date and had completely sold out prior.
