Australian General LEGO Update

Have a question for you Aussies.

My sister in law in Oz has decided that she wants to get my brother some Star Wars Lego with a budget of $100. Had a look on Lego Australia and that kinda restricts her to the First Order Tie Fighter.

Any other shops I should be looking at? He'd be an OT fan, rather than PT.

JK, you have any suggestions as you seem to have your finger on your pulse re: SW.

Look at Aussie Target, Kmart and Big W.

All of these three usually have everyday prices a little below retail, and are having Xmas sales at the moment with reduced prices and BOGOF.

Poe's Xwing can be had for 100, I saw one at Target (or Kmart, can't remember) on Thursday.

Thanks guys, best I can find is Poe's X-Wing for $100 or the Tie Fighter for $80, so she'll have to go with one of them.

Me personally for that budget I'd have gone with one of the Ideas sets.

Sales seem to have dramatically dropped off in the last 2 days . Don't really know why. This is normally the peak time . Maybe it has something to do with the Star Wars Movie, and people are buying Star Wars merchandise from the shops instead of all our goodies.  The shops are well stocked . Anyone else work out a reason.

Have you guys flipped all of your Trains and GB Houses or are you keeping some for next year?

I have around 5 Trains and 4 GB houses that I'll probably keep till next year. I'm tossing up whether to flip them now, or potentially risk them being forgotten next year.

Had 9 RR arrive yesterday, and another 3 slated for tomorrow. I will advertise locally, but I do think SW has taken a chunk out of JW.

My last sale was on Monday (an Orthanc at long last!), nothing since then. I think things peaked early last week. Glad I managed to sell everything I wanted to, it's been a busy couple of months!

My last sale was about an hour ago, Red Creatures. I only make $3 per a set on these as I use them as filler orders for crossing the $200 threshold (+ to get more Promos :))

From memory, I was able to flip a bit early in the week of Xmas, but I was in Newcastle then, so maybe things are different in CBR.

Another thing I found that I took a hit on was the whole Customs debacle, I couldn't get stock in fast enough to meet with demand/ebay promo :(

I think that SW will be the big ticket, so unless there is a mass sellout of anything SW related over the next 24 hours, I don't like my chance of flipping my horrid Constracables and Rey's Speedthing (I haven't seen the movie yet).

The reason I have stayed away from The Death Star - coming in 2016  "75159-1 The Death Star".

Until photos and details of this set are revealed, it's difficult to say what impact this will have on the future value of the current Death Star.

I would be very surprised if Lego just released a $700 rehash of the existing set.

It'll take an initial dip and ride again.

Noting that the Death Star is now down as retired on the Lego site, I drove down to Big W Bunbury and picked up two, I couldn't find any anywhere else.

I called around pretty much everywhere, and Bunbury had three, I was going to get all three but my fiancee wouldn't allow it. :lolu:

I'd left it late to pull the trigger, and noting it was retired I  didn't want to be left with 0 death stars.

Where abouts in Perth are you?

Do you know anywhere with the AT AT?

Yeah I have one but was thinking too long to get another, just a bit too pricy for my budget.

I stay around east of Perth, so I hunt around Carousel etc. But I am not into reselling....no room and budget hence just a collector.....for now....

ebay seems to be the only place to get an AT-At anymore. There might be a Toyworld out in woop woop with one. That would be your only bet for one at retail.

Don't worry about the Death Star. Personally, it has little appeal for me as it's too play set like and the minifigs look dated. In general, I stay away from really large sets (more than $300 a pop). They are riskier to sell and take up way too much space. Everyone has different strategies though, and I haven't seen how many listings there are for that one on ebay.com.au
