Alucard1982
I think I have a smashed up winter village on my floor along with 20+ other sets that were given to me to try and rebuild and see if parts are missing. In this is also the (horror) tower bridge and VW van. Managed to find all the bits to the tower bridge except one piece. The VW may be a complete loss. Anyway, what does everyone think about the flash being released in two sets in Australia (riddler chase and Gorilla Godd goes Bananas). I am wondering if I should try and buy a few. I gave the riddler chase away as a gift and cannot find any at the moment. Is this perhaps a good thing? I think it depends on the success of the TV show, I have a couple of Riddler chases, but I'm also of the mindset that Batman has completely saturated the market and his sets will probably take longer to appreciate because of this. AFFOL
T.V show, is there a movie I have yet to hear about? I was thinking from the flash perspective. I also noticed today that TRU is selling the jedi interceptor at a 31.00. However, I picked up a few at big w for $28. Not sure about this one, though some prices are so inflated on ebay. I am wondering why this is so. I mean a couple of sellers are off the charts with everything, though they sell heaps of stuff, is there something I do not know? Alucard1982
Sorry, I was talking about the flash, probably wasn't too clear. Personally, not a fan of SW, I think it's fans are starting to catch on that its being milked this way and that and will eventually move somewhere else. Regarding eBay, I'm probably one of those sellers lol, I think the market needs to be a higher equilibrium, as it seems that people are trying to price match the big box outlets and not adjusting to the requirements of the market. Depending on my buy-in, I try and make a worthwhile profit, not always possible but more often than not I do. Personally, if I was a buyer I would see eBay as a trap for the unsuspecting, hence why you have to build rapport with your customer base.
AFFOL
Myer today, buy one toy get one half price. There was not much left in the way of lego where I went, but bought a couple of lego architecture books at 40 % off in the book section. Am considering the idea of selling one of these with a set for those who want to start collecting in the series. Hell, I may keep one. I like the idea of it being a coffee table book with the models on display in an office situation. Anyone found anything at myers?
Alucard1982
I've been to 3 Myers over the last couple of days (moved from Newcastle to Canberra) and they have all been picked clean. I managed to pick up a 3189 at DJ (never seen one in the wild) and also picked up a Mixer for the Wife and I to build tonight in our hotel room whilst trying to find a house in Canberra. Canberra, nice place where everything goes around in circles, just like the politicians. Look I hope you find something nice. I would love to go myself as most specialist jobs in my field are there. Never mind. It was good luck you found one of the first lego friend stables. I remember buying one of those three years ago for a gift, though the little girls rarely plays with it. AFFOL
Finally seen Series 13 Minifigures today in Big W in Civic (Canberra). All the ones we had in big w were opened. I even saw a lady take some to nab. These people need to be caught. Sick to death. Now in big W most lego boxes are taped all around the edges. I hate it. It looks cheap. AFFOL
When I mean take some to nab, she used her kids to do it. Now that is a five finger discount. I should have reported her.
AFFOL
Hah, as a newbie I just found that there is a lego crime forum. Will check this out and perhaps start an Australian thread.
JeffProbst
What's the easiest/most cost effective way to post bulky items? Do you guys print postage labels using ebay or use the self service checkouts at the post office?
Alucard1982
Depends on what your sending, as soon as you go over 1kg physical weight, cubic weight will come into play and thats when the postal charges skyrocket. Unfortunately this is the same for private couriers as well as Aust Post. Provide some more info and I'll let you know what the best bet is. TheDarkness
Postage in Australia is just freaking ridiculous.
fanohockey
Postage in Australia is just freaking ridiculous. It would probably be cheaper to drive there and deliver it to the person. Lol

It's a 7965 Millenium Falcon and weights about 3.5kg with the box and packaging material
Alucard1982
Cubic weight will kill you with that size. Easiest way to work it out is **** x L x D x 250. For example its, **** - 40cm, L 35cm and D 8cm .40 x .35 x .08 x 250 = 2.8 (3)kg cubic. Depending on where your sending it, I have found that couriers are sometimes cheaper, you'll just need to drop it off at their depot. Sparkesy43
I'm fortunate enough to be on pretty good terms with my local LPO. The owner told me that if I make sure larger parcels are an irregular shape they aren't cubed. He suggested putting them in a garbage bag. It's saved me quite Sent from my GT-I9300 using Brickpicker mobile app

It's saved me quite Sent from my GT-I9300 using Brickpicker mobile app Mine said that initially and then outright changed their minds and said they would cube almost anything, even a swag, unless it was small enough to fit in a tough bag. So as I have found, it is a different proposition depending on your post office.
Alucard1982
I'm in defence as was deployed as Post Master for a couple of my tours and used the irregular shapes for the guys to avoid cubing, but as Darkness said it depends on the local guy as they run off commissions. I do like the garbage bag idea, but I think it wouldn't be as cost effective as the Brown paper I grab at Office works.
TheDarkness
One of the workers (who buys all her Lego through me, so I give her good rates) openly said the boss is ridiculously anal as they have to meet a quota. Sometimes it purely depends which staff member you get.
AFFOL
Hi spotted all the minecraft sets in Big W and the prices are about five dollars cheaper than on the lAussie lego site. I have picked up a couple, not sure how far I should go with this. I got two of the cave 21113, all sets seem to be doing well in the us, but this one has a CARG of 109.95 and in the U.K 39.56. The next set I suspect that will do well is the craft box.
Alucard1982
If these sets have hit Big W, I'm thinking the ship has already sailed, unless there is another mass sellout (for weeks and weeks)
AFFOL
What do you mean by already sailed. The lego online is sold out until feb. I did notice that kids in Big W took a liking to it and left the star wars stuff for dead after they spotted the tags. I am wondering what will happen to all those people who collected the micro worlds from EB games. EB are clearing these out and they seem not to move. AFFOL
Crap, it seems that fallingwater may be retired after all for the Australian market. Bloody thing on lego website yesterday said that it will ship in 30 days. Now it said sold out with no expected shipping date.

I think it will be one of those wait and see, If they sell out quickly you onto a winner but if they drag on due to availability unfortunately the other side of the coin comes into play. Compared to the micro worlds these are a lot better set with playability to boot, I think the micro-worlds were based at desk displays.
