I hate that word.. if you truly think that set is a real loser - what would be in your eyes / opinion an adequate market selling price for a new, complete set? I mean in terms of e.g. parents who want to buy a present for a kid.. or some avid SW fan who wants to buy some new set to build.. please share.. Quote

If you have to discount sets down under by close to 50% - the set's an overpriced turd. Target in Oz has been discounting the Classic Batman Cave, AoH and the UCS Tie Fighter to $199 - before any coupon "magic" at regular intervals for over a year. This is by no means a complete Star Wars list, but any parent who has bought one of these sets and then sees the discounts 3 - 6 months down the track in a Big W / Target /Kmart / Myer / DJ's even Mr Toys catalogue is going to feel ripped off. 75177 First Order Heavy Scout Walker RRP$100 disc to $55 75189 First Order Heavy Assault Walker RRP $230 disc to $99 75098 Assault on Hoth RRP$400 disc to $200 75180 Rathtar Escape RRP$130 disc to $80 75148 Encounter on Jakku RRP$90 disc to $55 75095 TIE Fighter RRP$300 disc to $200 75152 Imperial Assault Hovertank RRP60 disc to $35 75182 Republic Fighter Tank RRP$45 disc to $29 75141 Kanan's Speeder Bike RRP$60 was a pi$$take. Furious_george Posted June 18, 2018 Posted June 18, 2018 Talked to LEGO Shop at Home CS. Seems everyone’s orders are getting stuck in customs as they have tightened up the rules. What rules and what that means she couldn’t / wouldn’t tell me. Quote
whoisbiggles Posted June 18, 2018 Posted June 18, 2018 I wonder if customs are gearing up for a post 1/7 GST crackdown? I did read (Facebook page?) that Lego Shop at Home were being asked to confirm valuations of product and if applicable that GST had been collected. Quote
ED-209 Posted June 18, 2018 Posted June 18, 2018 But Lego already charge us Aus RRP. They must've been scamming the ATO and not paying their GST the dodgy kents. Quote
Ted Posted June 18, 2018 Posted June 18, 2018 Damn it....how much more are we going to pay just for buying Lego....Ted Quote
Furious_george Posted June 18, 2018 Posted June 18, 2018 This might poke them into building a supply wharehouse here. Quote

When you feel you've been ripped off that bitter taste lasts quite a while I dont think you view is accurate (as to the parents being "ripped off"..). first of all we should take into account that their first and strongest impulse to make a purchase is based on their kid's wish (willingness or eagerness to fulfill it).. its like you would be bragging about your gf's jewelry that you purchased "too early".. because if you waited, you could get that one in sales ... makes some sense? i dont think so! simply you want to make someone happy, the price seems OK at that time so you buy. all the regrets ".. should I wait.. ? could it be any cheaper.. ?" go just to "resellers" aka investors. I HAVE NEVER EVER had any regrets regarding any gift @any price that I gave to my loved ones irrespective whether they were discounted days / weeks or months after my purchase. .. and if you do - shame on you! Most kids don't want crap bricks or Chinese clones - evidence Kmart / Big W / Target have not increased the shelf space devoted to cheap clones in the last year. Pensioners - wait for sales to purchase birthday gifts for grand-kids - or give money instead. The mid-year sales and layby now for Xmas, retailers do this for a reason. Just because a kid wants it now - sure as $hit doesn't mean they are going to get it straight away. Instant gratification - is not how I chose to raise my kids. Buying jewellery from my wife is not an impulse decision, there is planning, working out what she wants and certainly never accepting the ticketed price. A 10% discount at Proud's is a starting point, never be ashamed to haggle. I never need to brag or tell my wife how much I spend. I never feel regrets about gift purchases, because I plan well in advance, and if you don't - more fool you! Quote
whoisbiggles Posted June 19, 2018 Posted June 19, 2018 Myer pricing stuff up - in store only - Assembly Square $149. They won't honour other peoples receipts - you will need to find the pricing poster in store. Quote

Liquidators couldn't land a deal to save them. The online store closes tomorrow with gift cards honoured until July 5. Stock to be liquidated through physical stores. Quote
Furious_george Posted June 20, 2018 Posted June 20, 2018 Gift cards will only be honoured if an equal amount is spent on top of the cards value. Quote
Ted Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 Hmm that means if you got a $100 gift card....you got to spend $200 just to use that gift card? End up still $100 out of own pocket....TedAnother thing is....what will happen to those so called TRU exclusive sets that are supposed to be release soon....Lego going to distribute them to other retailers? Like MYER or Target etc?Ted Quote
Furious_george Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 Myer LEGO sale on now. Also Myer eBay but not all sets listed there. Use PULL5 on eBay for 5% off. 21 hours ago, Ted said: Hmm that means if you got a $100 gift card....you got to spend $200 just to use that gift card? End up still $100 out of own pocket.... whoisbiggles Posted June 22, 2018 Posted June 22, 2018 5% off Lego at TRU - looks like they are going to drag out the liquidation discounts. Quote
Furious_george Posted June 22, 2018 Posted June 22, 2018 A whole 5% off their already inflated prices? How generous of them. Quote
Furious_george Posted July 1, 2018 Posted July 1, 2018 $250 taj mahals at Myer if your into that sort of thing. Quote

mtchrs Posted July 1, 2018 Posted July 1, 2018 I can purchase a Taj Mahal for $211 with myer staff discount. That’s a ridiculous discount for a new(ish) set, but I’m done with oversized Lego turds so I’ll leave it to the lowballers to flog em for $50 profit. Quote
Furious_george Posted July 1, 2018 Posted July 1, 2018 Reckon you could gumtree it for $300 if you can be bothered with the nutcases on there. 1 Quote
Ted Posted July 1, 2018 Posted July 1, 2018 Already someone putting it up for $400+? On gumtree....trying to pull a fast one over normal consumer eyes.Ted Quote
