I hate my boss. I’m not sure I can last until next year to get my severance package. My job is moving to Denver but I’m staying put here in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Move here, we have great deals, but we do have Winter.   Bring Alpine!

Alpinemaps is also from California and was talking about moving East.

Facebook memories.

Way to go to let you know that you're old. 8 years ago today I was doing a day of tank driving, today I'm watching Thomas the Tank Engine on repeat.

Such BS! Rio blaming Lochte and friends, saying they're lying about the hold up. Sure, cause Rio hasn't been lying about everything already.
Well, this is really turning out to be unfortunate. Very disappointed. All I have to say is why?

Are you in Alameda? Parts of Alameda are nice. I love that new Target there. It's a breath of fresh air from having to go to the one in Emeryville. I have a friend who lives on the west side of Alameda and he loves it. I'm in the Oakland hills and love the neighborhood and schools (elementary at least).

Having a [perfect] house you were looking to buy get sold 2 hours before you made an offer. And you were ready to offer $25k above the asking price at that.

I'll trade someone a NISB Ewok Village in exchange for coming over and punching me in the nuts repeatedly. Yes, I'm "punch me in the nuts irritated".

Those things tend to work out for the better in the long run (i.e. Something else will pop up, the house will turn out to have structural problems etc.)

Case in point: we put an offer on on a house 5 years ago only to be told someone else had just put in an offer the same morning. A few days later we learned they retracted their offer as a home inspection revealed a crack in a basement wall. So we bailed as well. One week goes by, and our realtor calls us in a frenzy at 8am in the morning: the owner dropped his asking price by $100k overnight. We had an updated offer on his desk 30 mins layer, a structural engineer confirmed that the basement need just $1k worth of bracing, and 30 days later the house was ours.

Silence Pollyanna! I'll have none of this pat on the back nonsense. I've had a few drinks as my consolation prize, so all I want to hear at this point is you'll take me up on the offer for the EV.

Edit: also, you're a good guy, PhilB, respect you from your posts I've seen around here. But I'm punch me in the nuts irritated and plan to be for another hour or two!

It sucks, you'll get over it. Similar thing happened to us, and we ended up finding a better house too. Your perfect home is still out there waiting to be discovered

Not many places meet my litmus test of >800 sq ft of basement space to convert into my "Lego Den" ;)

I'm in MN. The issue isn't finding an >800 sq ft basement, it's finding an EXTRA 800+ sq ft that my wife can't declare "family space" and I can safely claim as solely Lego territory :)

Our house has 800 Sq ft of finished basement, and 800 Sq ft of unfinished basement :)

Ugh. Those ads on Brickset are the worst. Locks up my iPhone all the time now. I guess I gotta stop going over there for awhile.

Most of those different WIKI sites (Wookiepedia for example) are absolutely dreadful to try loading on my computer (sometimes locking up the browser even) without first minimizing a lot of the options to run just the bare essentials. For me the quickest is setting the security level to high which turns off pretty much everything other than text and images. I have no idea how to get around it on mobile.
