I hate when long time members change their screen name. It's like "who the heck is this person with 1000 or more posts that I've never heard of."

yeah. sometimes it is bewildering trying to figure out who this senior is that had so many posts. Btw couldn't BP make it such that the perivous screen name is in brackets behind the new screen name?maybe let it stay there a month and then it get erased by the system, leaving the new screen name. Just a thought, might be difficult for the programmers.

Would be simpler to add this to the profile - a list of previously used screen names :) So click on the name, and there is your list.

So I want to know what I should do here.  I'll break it down.

I have a trade topic up for mini figures.   Person'd username who I won't say just yet messaged me saying he has figs I need and is interested in some of mine.

He mentioned just one of hundreds of figures he has that is "pending" in another trade.  Fine, I won't ask for that one.

So I message him and say ok so what exactly do you have, let's talk trade.

Last night he shows me a bunch of pictures of all his figures and I go through them and send him a list of what I like.

Great so now we are officially in discussion.  He likes my figs, I like his.  Let's work something out.  To me that makes both of our figures "PENDING".

THEN

He messages me a few hours ago saying "hey so I made a trade on Facebook, getting the figures you have so I no longer need them and they are off the table.  sorry if that's a problem."  That's not entirely the wording but extremely close from memory".

Well um, yeah that's a problem.  You are telling me that you went behind my back and traded for figures we were already discussing.  Figures that you should have told the other person that they are pending!!??? Such bad practice.

I'm pretty annoyed and upset as I need several of his figures and was excited to make a trade.  A) I'm not sure I can trust him and B ) is this not extremely rude and poor practice????

I feel like I should do my part in warning others if they want to trade with him.  I have a big heart and don't necessarily want to put this person on full blast, but it's so wrong what he did and I'm upset about it.  Not sure how I can overcome this fact and still trust him to do a different trade at this point.

Thoughts?

I can understand why you would be upset and disappointed about not getting the figures you wanted but I don't think what the other person did was totally dishonest or malicious . This is no different than agreeing a deal on CL only for someone else to offer a more money; some sellers will honor the deal others might go with the higher offer, although a deal in your case hadn't been reached yet .

if it bothers u so much just don't do any more transactions with this person, atleast they were honest about it . I wouldn't blast a person based on what you described .

again I can understand your frustration but I would just let this one go and hopefully u can trade with someone else .

That's fair and I'm trying to be fair. However I think what would have been proper was at least give me first chance to match an offer. If I can't, so be it. I can understand if it was a great deal. We hadn't finalized it yet but I'm disappointed that He didn't consider out discussing pending.

Not the end of the world just bummed as I needed those figures and felt it was wrong.

I won't disclose this person

I would agree that he should have disclosed to you that there are other negotiations taking place but I'm sure not everyone would agree with me on this one .

Well it was never disclosed there were separate talks going on, it came out of nowhere.

Eh anywho. :) guess my search for figs I need continues. This would have knocked out some very important ones.

Why is buying more fun than selling?? Even when I sell something and turn a tidy profit, I still loath the process of boxing up sets and going to FedEx/UPS.

That's what kills it for me. UPS isn't so bad but the post office, my god. I used to leave them out for pickup but they would never scan them so every day I had to deal with 5 different buyers asking why I haven't shipped yet because USPS tracking just says I created the label and nothing else. Then I used to take them in and drop them on the counter without waiting in line, but again they would not scan them. So now even though I do it all online, I still have to drive to USPS every day and wait in line like a tool because USPS can't do their job right. And the people in line at the post office, are always doing something that takes 10 minutes or more. And there is always 5 or more people in line. And there is always only one line open. Spending time in a post office every day is enough to turn the biggest statist into a laissez faire libertarian.

I hate USPS with a passion for all the reasons you stated and then some. The only things I ship through them are the little bubble mailers where I just drop them off in the secured bin. All packages are either FedEx or UPS.

I wish I had a close FedEx that wasn't an Office Max (those are worse than the post office). The good news about the USPS price increase is I am now sending out about 60% of my orders UPS and 40% USPS where it used to be 10% UPS and 90% USPS. Few more USPS price increases and I will never go again!

I'm really lucky.  The post office I ship from is closer to my parking spot than my office is.  There's one postal clerk in there, and we know each other by name.  She scans everything for me.  She's very big on getting feedback, and always encourages people to fill out the survey.  Everything she scans always ends up tracking within a couple of hours.

I use USPS almost exclusively and have, in the last 14 years or so, only had 2-3 issues with them. I don't move the amount of product that some on here do, but averaging 250 or so packages per year that's 3500 shipments. That's a fairly good average in my opinion. Guess I'm just lucky. To bad that luck doesn't translate to powerball.

Sounds like you need to buy the USPS clerks a box of donuts.  A little bit of sugar and sprinkles can go a long way to making sure your packages get scanned the next time.  That $6 box of dozens is gold compared to waiting in that line.

I no comprende mostly this...

I never stand in line, just drop and go... Only remember 1 package not scanned til destination in last 3 years, and only 1 buyer ever anxious about delays in origin scan. I simply replied with detailed assurance, asked for patience, and all was fine. USPS has at least 99 problems but for me, scanning ain't one.

UPS drives over my packages and FedEx leaves them for neighbors to steal, on the other hand.
