You'd be surprised how many manual interventions are needed throughout the route.

MI and HI also look similar to a USPS employee who needed stronger glasses/contacts ;)

Trying to get a credit card expiration date changed on an existing TRU.com order.  Why is this so difficult?  Two calls and about an hour on the phone, and I've been told that someone will call me back to possibly sort it out.  Gotta love mega-retailers with antiquated systems.  And I don't want to just cancel and try again, because I used Rewards dollars, and who knows if those would ever get reimbursed.

I went through the same issue a few weeks back. They will never call you back and after 3 days will just cancel your order. I called every day and they kept telling me someone would call me in 2-5 days. I said no you are going to cancel the order in 48 hours so I need it sooner than that. Then they would say ok they will call you tomorrow. Tomorrow would come and no one would call so I would call back and repeat the entire process. This happened for 3 days before my order just got canceled. You are better off canceling it re-ordering it your self. I did not get my rewards reimbursed and had to call and get new ones. That was actually very easy and it was instant.

“There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again.”

Ugh.

I love receiving an $80 Bricklink order to open it up to an overwhelming smell of cigarette smoke.

I ordered from this guy once before, but forgot to put a note in there that the order smelled, or to move him to my least favorite store list.  I'm pretty sure the last time I ordered from him, he had a note that said his stuff came from a non-smoking house, and I caught him.  I'm pretty sure he changed his store's info so it doesn't make a mention anymore.

He says his bricks are new, and they appear new.  But the smell.  Ugh.

I'll take my lumps, but won't be ordering from him again.  And if a store doesn't say "non-smoking" I'll either pass them over or grill them before ordering.  What a PITA.  Guess I'll be washing these bricks.

It should honestly be a requirement that anyone selling stuff out of their home be a non smoker.  That smell NEVER GOES AWAY.

What method of washing has worked best for you?

Oh, I forgot to mention the "best" part - I ordered a box from this seller, too.  He sent the box like some of our retailers - basically in a bag.  He wrapped it in plastic a few times, and then put paper on the outside.  Needless to say, it's crunched up.  I needed a "new" box for a set whose box was pretty destroyed elsewhere.  It doesn't look much better.  And, oh, it reeks of cigarette smoke, too.

Honestly, you can't return this stuff? This is absolutely unacceptable to me...

Sealing the Lego in a container with some dryer sheets does wonders for getting rid of smoke smell.

Besides the fact that the sellers aren't up front about the smell, it really amazes me that people still smoke in their homes.  That person's entire home smells like that batch of Lego.

I've read where several people have put them in dishwasher safe bags for cleansing.  I put them in a sink with Dawn and some hydrogen peroxide.

We have a thread for this too:
