kris_1973
Not many places meet my litmus test of >800 sq ft of basement space to convert into my "Lego Den" At least you have basements - in Texas we don't due to water table / aquifers. kris_1973
Having a [perfect] house you were looking to buy get sold 2 hours before you made an offer. And you were ready to offer $25k above the asking price at that.I'll trade someone a NISB Ewok Village in exchange for coming over and punching me in the nuts repeatedly. Yes, I'm "punch me in the nuts irritated".I feel your pain. Last September we found 'the perfect house' in our town (1 acre wooded, 4000sq ft including separate in-law house for future use by aging parents, quiet neighborhood, etc)... We already talked to the bank so we could aggressively negotiate... We were outbid by $2500 (trivial for a home that big and definitely something we would have gone higher on), but here's the part we couldn't compete... they offered cash / no inspection / etc.The only thing we COULD tell ourselves was that we just weren't meant to have the house... A bitter pill when there's no proof that it worked out for us... Still house-shopping.

That sounds like buying a house in Toronto - our second house there we bought in a bidding war where they sent the 3 best offers back for a "second chance". We went in with no inspection etc. and won. Waiving the inspection was fairly easy though, the owners had done a survey and we knew we were gutting the house (it was a 100yr old semi-detached). kris_1973
Cash rules all.......end of story.True, true. We may be debt-free and have 20%+ to put down, but can only do 10-15yr mortgage - not wealthy enough to put all cash on the table for a home. kris_1973
Complaint Thread: I find it interesting that with all of the rants (via tv / internet / real-world), people would expend even more energy being crass and ugly on here (brickpickers forum).None of us (as far as I know) can see the future, so 'predictions' here are just opinions. Take them or leave them, that's all they are, and shouldn't be considered a shoo-in.Please don't be ugly if you followed someone's opinion and lost money - better yet, please don't be ugly regardless. I respect the great accumulation of knowledge this forum contains and I thank you all for your opinions.
dcdfan
Hands down, worst VMAs ever and there have been a lot of crappy ones. I'm all for art, believe me but Beyoncé's Trayvon Martin inspired tribute was enough for me. If I was still listening to her music, I'd boycott it but I haven't heard a single good thing come out of her mouth in about a decade. Rant over. Well since we're here, lately I've been peeing a lot. It's probably all this heat making my bladder work overtime. Sometimes I place an ice cube in my mouth just to help cool off and quench my thirst. 3 hours ago, exciter1 said: Are you a six shooter? (I know cause I've got it). Your kidneys end up working overdrive to filter out excess sugar. Kidneys use water to filter. It ends up in your bladder. I blame the summer heat since I drink a lot more cold water and eat less than I normally do the rest of the year then consequently finding myself needing to go "#1" I guess every couple hours. Still I am due for a routine checkup so that is something to consider. Sorry about your Diabetes. 1 hour ago, Alpinemaps said: Oh god. Now you have me scared. Now don't be a hypochondriac, okay. I rewired my whole kitchen and it passed inspection no problem. The Inspector even complimented me on the work.
