Complaint Thread

We can create another topic, but the second one person curses that there are two threads to monitor, kiss it goodbye.

Is it really that hard to scroll past the posts?  I can cruise past them pretty easily if I am not interested.  Also if there are no major deals going on, what is the issue. Do you have better deals to post about?

Jeff, the issue is, as others have noted, as much the constant order status updates as the gift card deals themselves.  But gift cards seem to spawn more of those posts per 'deal' than actual lego sales do, probably because of the issues with stolen credit cards being used to purchase many of the gift cards offered by the resellers, and the resulting issues with merchant acceptance (or outright bans of customer accounts).

So the Daily Deals thread fills up with posts like 'gift card wouldn't work; on the phone with paypal now'.  It really is an annoyance to wade through those each morning, and they seem to be increasing as a percentage of the 'Daily Deals' thread.  I think that gift cards, like non-lego investments, are a different enough type of deal to warrant their own thread.

As an aside, I did not know there was a complaint thread.  I'll post future complaints here.  Along those lines, the Daily Deal thread could use a Daily Reminder that there is a separate Order Status thread for all the Daily Dysfunctional Gift Card Deal posts...

As much as there is definitely a need to stop too much talk about how to spin Gift Card deals, every LEGO Shop at Home promo posted also quickly evolves in a "1000 ways how to optimize your order" talk (see what is happening now). I think the approach of a mod warning when the talk gets out of hand, followed by a mod move of unnecessary comments to a relevant thread is the best solution at this point. And if this happens often enough and mod warnings are timely and consistently, people will figure it out and stop the talk. And some of the comments are not off-topic and perhaps do belong on the DD thread.

We don't want to hinder discussion.  It's pretty much been this way since the beginning, some can cope, some can't.

So instead we will talk about what makes up a deal and what doesn't for 3 pages. That's SO much better. If you want to know who is wasting everyone's time in daily deals look in the mirror.

Kind of a whiney complaint but here we go...

There's a certain Walmart near me that has the WORST clearance practices ever. Lego sets with red tags for higher than retail, and other such horrors. Despite that, I've found a few deals here and there, and in fact for the past YEAR I have been eyeing their second (yeah they had two for some reason) store display of Poe's X-Wing. I asked a few managers over the months and they all said "We can't give that away to anyone, it goes back to Lego"

Lo and behold it was gone today. I found the nearest manager to see if they might have thrown it away or if it might be available, and the guy says "Oh... I took that home last night"

AARRGHHHHHH

Mods hinder discussion all the time.  It's just that they do it according to their personal preferences, and not actual rules or standards of civility.

That's a total crock and you know it. If you spent more time being less ignorant to the world around you, you'd realize that we try to be pretty consistent but we're not perfect nor do we claim to be. But when asshats like you insult us and complain repeatedly you can't in your right mind expect to be respected.

You love getting a rise out of people and you got one. Now cut the crap.. Anymore posts insulting mods or members are going to the trash bin whether they're from you or others.

It's a well known benefit of working retail. Think of it a payback for having to politely deal with dirty resellers and other undesirable all day.

This is the sort of personal attack that if I posted it would be instantly deleted by a moderator.  Instead it gets 'liked' by a moderator.

Macks, if this is the sort of site you want to run, I certainly can't stop you.  But this sort of attitude, especially by moderators and particularly by stephen_rockefeller, I guarantee you is costing both members and affiliate revenue.  I know that every time a snide comment gets 'liked' by good ol' stephen_rockefeller or another mod, my next lego purchase goes straight to the site in question, bypassing the affiliate link.  And I know for a fact that many, many others behave similarly.  Allowing people like stephen_rockefeller who can't control themselves, to control the comments of others is shooting yourselves in the foot from a business perspective.

Mods hinder discussion all the time.  It's just that they do it according to their personal preferences, and not actual rules or standards of civility.

I hear and respect what you are saying, but to punish Jeff or I or the site for your personal issues is silly.  The Mods have a difficult job to do and they are not perfect.  Stephen has an abrasive personality at times...but so do you.  You are no angel and like to mix it up like he does.  You both are similar personalities and should avoid each other at all costs.  I agree with a lot of your opinions and accept your negativity that you display at times, but I also respect Stephen as well.  He has made strides to improve his demeanor.  He has been a loyal soldier in the Brickpicker legion and I repay loyalty with loyalty, even though it might not be the "prudent" or "business smart" thing to do.  Call me the Donald Trump of the LEGO World...

the hair on  your avatar fits perfectly.

to get back on topic, my employer is retarded.  I was quiting, but they allowed me to step down from managment instead and  now I make more money.  So now more money and far less headaches.

The crown lies heavy as they say. Management is often not worth the trouble or stress. I think I will be applying to a local LEGO store as an associate very soon.

That's my plan for when I hit retirement age and my LEGO investments haven't panned out....

Pardon me as I am going to complain about something completely unrelated for a bit. Ahem. I have already stated before somewhere how much it irks me when someone uses the term "loose" instead of "lose". Well another peeve is when people say "I've got". Let's see, "I've" is a contraction of "I have" therefore you are technically stating "I have got". Yeah, instead of saying "I've got LEGO" try using what it really is as "I have got LEGO". ....Oh my jeeze, that hurts my head just thinking about it and grinds off the tongue like sandstone.

And now we return to your regularly scheduled programming. Have a nice day.

I am so bloody frustrated with Pitney-Bowes and their Global Shipping programme they have with eBay.

Had a customer just message me that " the box was labelled from them so i think probably they repackaged all the items but i'm not sure... i found only 1 plastic bag inside the card box... and 1 sheet of paper to avoid (???) damages. "

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH.

Just February I had this happen previously. I had an (non-Lego) item that had collector's value as it was, SEALED which I packaged with bubble wrap, packing paper and lots of space between it and the outer box. Well, they took all of that out and sent it pretty much loose in a smaller box. End result, got to the buyer in Hungary dented and damaged. I have switched most of my items already to be shipped by me directly, even if it is  more of a problem but this one from today had gone out already. What's the point of me taking pride in overpackaging so that things get to their destination as I sent them if those buffoons will make me look like a complete uncaring tosser n00b seller???

Last time I complained directly to eBay about it but as they are now separate from Paypal they had to depend on Paypal dealing with it. The buyer and I got our money back but that isn't the point; these are not easily replaceable items that I want damaged!

Different English speaking countries speak differently, that's why some may sound weird to you...I'm European, learned English English, moved to US, slightly customized my English (lol), learned some more from a Mexican and.....here's my writing. ;)

Don't get me started on Your and You're, there and they're or their. Drives me nuts. Oh, and cursive will be a secret code used by us old people one day to plot the overthrow of the millennials and their offspring.

They're, their and there to be precise. And separate spelled as seperate. And know vs. Now.

And Lego, Legos, Lego's or Legoes instead of LEGO :)

"If you have recently opened a new UPS account and requested enrollment into the UPS Special Pricing Program for PayPal sellers, please note it takes 4-6 business days for UPS to confirm your enrollment status."

I guess I'll have to eat the $18 difference that he was charged for shipping..
