Complaint Thread

Three straight pages of gift card order status updates.  Why exactly would it be a bad idea to make a separate thread for gift card deals?  Those of us interested in saving more than, say $15 after jumping through lots of hoops have no choice but to slog through endless reports of buggy eBay coupon codes and various retailers banning people for actually using the gift cards.

We have a separate order status thread.  We have a separate thread for non-lego deals.  Even if for some reason gift cards are not to get a dedicated thread, surely these posts belong in some combination of 'order status' and 'non-lego' (since gift cards are not in fact lego and do not need to be spent on lego).

The endless gift card posts are a real drag.

We can create another topic, but the second one person curses that there are two threads to monitor, kiss it goodbye.

Is it really that hard to scroll past the posts?  I can cruise past them pretty easily if I am not interested.  Also if there are no major deals going on, what is the issue. Do you have better deals to post about?

It sounds to me like his issue isn't with the gift card deals being posted, it's that every post after the deal is:

-I got it!

-Didn't work for me!

-I got 2!

-I got a baker's dozen!

-I was able to get it to work on Lowes gift card, then I put it up on CL real quick and traded it for a Chili's card.  I took that card to Chili's and traded it to a waitress for cash.  Now I'm taking that cash and my Kmart points and getting free sets all day.  Thoughts?

Same with any subtopic of the Daily Deals.

eBay Bucks

-I got it!

-I didn't, but I used to get these offers!

-How do I sign up for these?

SYW points

-Check you emails for points.

-Everyone reports what they got, although this has gotten better since the dedicated thread.

No matter how many threads are made there will still be people incapable of finding and posting in them.

Guys, this is a forum, I am not going to beat up on people for stuff like this.  Members are just trying to be part of the conversation.  Is it ideal, not for everyone, but is there anything wrong with it?   There are no laws against it.

I'm not trying to beat anyone up, going slightly off topic is something that's going to happen in a forum.  I realize that and even enjoy that aspect about forums because, as you said it's not hard to scroll past the nonsense.  I was just illustrating that this will continue to happen so there really isn't any point complaining about it.

You can please some of the people all of the time and all of the people some of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time...

That's all I can think of too lol, I'm glad for what this site offers, and I know others are too. I was going to express my opinion but again, what dcdfan said ;)

If you separate every type of deal that doesn't apply to everyone into its own thread you're going to end up checking half a dozen threads.

One for gift card deals, one for exclusives showing up in stock at MSRP, slightly discounted open box Amazon warehouse deals, regional chain deals, shipping materials discounts, Craigslist deals etc.

A "deal" is a bargain. It's a mutually advantageous arrangement between two parties.

How is obtaining $100 worth of Lego for $70 not a "deal"? Using TRU as the example for this discussion, what is a better deal than being able to take 30% off at TRU (in store or online) on any available Lego of your choosing, at any time of your choosing?

Furthermore, was this deal available yesterday? No.

Is it still available now that it's after 5:00pm PST? No.

Oh, so you're saying it was just for today?

It was just a Daily Deal?

It obviously belongs here.

The dozens of personal updates on the other hand, advising us all of who it worked for or how many times you used it, or what you plan to buy later with it, those are unnecessary.

If you just want to post what you did five seconds ago, or how you're feeling in this moment, or make an observation about life, there's a different thread for that.

It's called Twitter.

It's also called Facebook.

It's also called Instagram.
