10220 - Volkswagen T1 Camper Van

My perception is that T1 Campervan will hit double RRP price quicker than SSD

i would agree due to the lower retail price than 10221 and the design is great.  people seem to love Lego cars, trains, planes, etc...

the demand for 10220 should also still be decent despite the ample supply.  just wish it would retire already...  :)

I have stored all my receipts and invoices however I have not been regularly updating my records. I'll do a stock check after Christmas. Anyhow I know more of less how many I have of each set.

Crusty & anyone else who hasn't taken the plunge on creating a spreadsheet yet:  I highly recommend it!

Here is the brickpicker thread with some ideas for starting your own:

Man, kudos to those with 100 of these or more, though I'm not sure I'd want to be looking at getting rid of them in a hurry. Even selling one a week would take 2 years to sell them all. Selling one a fortnight would take 4 years. And that's in a market that's gonna be pretty crowded for a year or two at least.

A++ for use of the word "fortnight"', which deserves to be re-constituted after 400 years of neglect.

I had six T1's in inventory; over the last five weeks have traded each back to a Lego B&M for store credit towards TH, ToO, etc. Can't wait to re-visit this set when its time has come. Of all my inventory, once this is re-acquired, I will hold as long as I can. A timeless set with outstanding long-term potential.

I know what you meant tractorboy... I think the U.K is a lot different than the U.S,  I see the set pretty scarce 4-5 years after eol.

I cant wonder why crusty would buy 90 of these, that's an equivalent of 22 SSD's you could of had.

I do not think it will be so scarce. Even after 4 or 5 years after EOL. Let's face it. This set is hoarded. No matter how you look at it. It will not do as good as the 10187 VW Beetle. That one was less hoarded and is indeed scarce.

A few months ago I was in a toyshop and the girl who works there asked me if she could help me. So we started talking about lego. She told me she loved the VW so much. She was a VW fan and she wanted one badly. Just it was too expensive for her. So maybe in 4 years, when she earns more money, she will buy mine for 250 euro. So there is still hope?

Plenty of petrol heads out there that with the next Lego movie will go "hey, is there no VW made from Lego" and katsjing... It is a great model, and it looks great on display. Bought at 67

Pfffffffffffffffffff I don't like you anymore. T1 is so much smoother.

True friends tell eachother the truth. No matter how hard it is to accept :)

The real VW Beetle is to my knowledge the car with the longest production run. ever.

The lego store in Alabama still has plenty of them, they just got a fresh batch, lets see how long that lasts....:)

I do not work for lego, but if I did, I would be really happy that I can keep producing sets and people out there buy 50-100+. I really do not think lego worry about the secondary market that much, because without it their initial sales would not be nearly as high. secondary market = More people buying more product at anticipation of reselling.

All the off topic talk has been deleted by me. Don't be stupid again.

Edited for bold: The comment made about arguably the most horrific human being in the history of the world will not be tolerated no matter the context.

I was pretty shocked when one of my local museums ran Genghis Khan exhibit. They even gave kids cute little hats.

The history books are written by the winners. I take it there were comments here about the person that made VW what it is today. Sadly enough, many familes of popular German car brands were affiliated with a National Socialistic party. It's a part of history. Glorifying such people can not be done, but we can't wipe out that they are part of our car history and consequently, since TLC did a model of one of these brands, a possible part of the discussion. Just my 2 cents.

Well, moderator's job is to suppress inflammatory derailments. This is not a CNN comments section, after all.
