Hello! sorry but I have a doubt...Filling the brickfolio, you have to choose between MINT and NEW, but I really don't understand the difference....

If I'm buying a set in a shop or on amazon, ebay, etc. that's never been used and it's sealed how can I classify it?

To me the term mint means that the box is sealed and has no imperfections, dents, creases, punctures ect. If it does have some imperfections but it still sealed then it's still considered new. This is my take on it anyway. There has been many debates as to what constitutes a "new" set.

Alot of sellers on Ebay etc advertise there Lego Set "New never displayed, mint in box. but never really say what shape the box is in, so when you get it and the box is in bad condition." Thats why its better if you ask about the box, if you are looking for a nice box.

I always stick with describing sets as new in the box and avoid using the term mint at all costs.  Describing something as "mint" sets unrealistic expectations in some buyers and generally attracts the type of buyer who is going to return something if they find even a tiny defect.

I think the same, mint could create huge expectations but I really don't understand why someone created this differentiation between mint and new/sealed...

If i box is closed, sealed and in great conditions I think that this is almost perfection!

New and sealed what?  Box?  Interior bags?  Mint is a perfect box that is sealed and never opened.  New can mean many things to many different people.  A set can be considered new/sealed without a box if the pieces are all in their original clear sealed plastic packages and was never built.

A lot of people say Mint set - meaning the set inside is assumed to be mint. Which is a big ol croc of poop.

All I care about is the contents inside therefore when I see "mint" I would assume the box is still factory sealed. The box is going to be thrown out anyway so who cares if it has some dings and scuffs on it?

New and sealed box, never opened with no damages, including sealed interior bags (that obviously I can't see without opening the box)...For me, this condition is new, but at the same time is mint for others...My brain is going upside down! :frantics:

Well unless you care about the box because you are leaving it sealed.

Here's the kicker...Seals can be tampered with, so that MISB set might not be so mint or sealed.
