Joe94611 Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Anyone know why Amazon.com doesn't sell Lego Technic sets? All I see is sets being sold through third parties. Quote
DoNotInsertIntoMouth Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Technic is a TRU exclusive line if I remember correctly. Which is why its hard to find discounts. I think this is only true in the US. Someone correct me if I am wrong. Quote
Joe94611 Posted October 26, 2013 Author Posted October 26, 2013 I've been out of the modern Lego set loop for some time (I was always a fan of the pre year 2000 Technic sets) and can't tell you how weird that sounds to me. That Technic would only be sold at one store. Quote
DoNotInsertIntoMouth Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Yeah who knows how the contract is between the two. But just think - you ever seen it at Walmart, Target, Kmart, etc? I have never seen a technic set anywhere else. I am not a fan of exclusives as they never get discounted anywhere else. But on the flip side they are usually better investments because of it. Quote

That Technic would only be sold at one store. It seems odd to me, too. In Europe, Technic seems to have much wider availabilty: Amazon.co.uk and other regional Amazon sites carry it, local brick and mortar stores carry it...it's everywhere as far as I know. There are tons of loyal Technic fans in the EU, as evidenced by the relative abundance of 1990s flagships for sale all the time on European eBay sites. I imported my 8448, 8880, and Silver Champion from eBay.de because they were so scarce on eBay.com. On our side of the Atlantic, however, Technic seems like more of a niche product than ever. Maybe it's a chicken-and-egg problem of limited distribution and weak demand. Quote
Curtis Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 I've bought Technic at Barnes and Noble, in the store. Quote

Talk about limiting your market. :mda: Quote
Guest TabbyBoy Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Hmmm.... I may include US shipping when I start to list Technic sets. Quote
MartinP Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 The only place that I have seen sell Technic is the Lego Store and TRU. Th Lego store has much better prices for the sets. Quote
Joe94611 Posted October 26, 2013 Author Posted October 26, 2013 Thanks for all the feedback. Yes, a very strange situation indeed. I've been buying from Amazon.co.uk lately, prices which are many times better than TRU here, even with shipping. Quote
