spener90
Just a thought. With all of the people buying the retired sets online, why wouldn't Lego produce a huge item?
kerrmando
I hope they do! It could be awhile though. Such a limited market.
Diabolos80
Well they're getting there... The Opera House is the most expensive set since the Falcon. I hope they don't use opera house sales to decide if the market is ready for a $1000 set. I just don't see it being a huge seller, regardless of its msrp. DoNotInsertIntoMouth
Don't see it. Could be an investing gem though - more expensive the less are bought and then they shoot up! I think they are trying to move away from it a bit. I just don't see that being a good viewpoint of them having an 1000 dollar toy. But its possible. Alcarin
Personally I would want a 1000$ set, but problem is I would want it in a theme where I doubt anyone could expect seeing it surface... that would be Minas Tirith 1000$ set.... Since I am mostly LOTR/Hobbit LEGO fan I dont care if a 1000$ is released ever... I suspect it might be in 5 years or so.
Guest brickcrazyhouse
if and or when it happens it will be at TRU and $699.00 else where
LegoCityReviews1
That would be awesome! A miniature Legoland would be pretty cool.
MartinP
I think it will be at least two years until they produce a set that has an MSRP of $1,000.

Anakinisvader
There may be one in the making as we speak. (I am not a LEGO employee but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night)
Spartikis
I vote 10-20 just because that would factor in inflation. I just dont see them making a set that expensive, there would be so little demand for it even if it was a fantastic theme.
sadowsk1
Two years. The UUCS Falcon. 1k = 10k piece set.

lowillsw
FAO sold a few lifesize Darth Vader back in the early 2000 for 10g.

comicblast
FAO sold a few lifesize Darth Vader back in the early 2000 for 10g. Wow! Those are some light bricks. Only 10 grams! Did the seller inject helium into the build?
Grolim
I predict it will be in the year 2060. That's the year that a $400 MSRP set today will cost $1,000 after inflation that I estimated at an average of 2% per annum for 47 years
TheOrcKing
Other than inflation, I can't see a full-on official $1,000 box set. I could see Lego slowly nudging exponentially larger sets on the market over the course of the next few decades though just to see how far they can push the market but I think $200 is the limit of many typical buyers and $100 for the money conscious. Anything more is the heavy duty hitters, serious collectors, and loyal Lego lovers.

Jackson
I would love to see a $1000 set, maybe a big Middle Earth layout or something like that.
