I can probably help someone out in the US, too, if they want some AA. You do have to remember that MSRP here is $209 + 13% tax (I'm in Ontario) but with the CAN dollar trading lower if you pay in US funds it is still quite a bit cheaper than ebay. I think I already have a couple cases (2 per case) downstairs that could go to a good home.

PM me if you have serious interest.

Oh yeah, shipping from Canada also is sucky compared to US rates.

Veegs, I've already PMed redghostx about his offer first, but i just wanted to say that your offer is appreciated. I'm sure there are others that missed the boat on this one.

No worries. Probably not a great price up here for those looking to invest (especially when shipping is added to the cost) but for those looking for one or two as opposed to stockpiling it might be the best current option.

Can you guys PLEASE just PM each other your personal requests, offers, thank yous, and invitations to tea? ... not just here, but in every thread.  This forum is really starting to suck.

Yeah, no kidding..

Hey - Are you in NorCal? If so, I'd personally like to offer that we get together and commiserate over this. Maybe over some tea? Thank you!

If you're ever in Windsor, I'll definitely need you to come over for tea. You just seem so damn pleasant!

In regards to AA available in Canada, I have access to as many as I want or need but at regular price. The price in Canada is $209.99 plus tax. I would like to purchase several, but of couse the profit margin is going to be slimmer as my cost is greater than the US, and shipping to the US is always more when it comes time to sell them. Of couse I will receive US dollars when I sell them which would off set the cost depending on the value of the dollar. I would like to keep them for a few years before I sell them. Any input or predictions on what this set will be worth in say 2 or 3 years? Should I stock up at the Canadian retail and if so how many would you buy? I only have 2 of these right now.(sealed)

Thanks in advance!

I bought all of mine at a decent discout from MSRP.  Is it worth it as an investment in Canada at that price......time will tell.  My gut says not for awhile.

This seems to happen a lot. Open it man, enjoy it. Especially if you have more than one. I felt the same way in the past but then I woke up and realized that money isn't everything.

Look at you trying to diminish the number of MISB for yours to appreciate more! J/K lol

Believe me, my personal collection continues to expand - so much so that I can only "enjoy" a couple sets displayed at a time - currently they are town hall and palace cinema, multiple pirate ships, and the GotG sets...is it bad to want to move just to have a bigger Lego room? My future "trophy" room will consist of a few high school medals and my LEGO collection...ha!

This thread needs bleach like nobody's business!

I've already lost days of my life reading (or scanning past) meaningless drivel in these forums.  It seems to be getting worse by the week.

At this rate one of two things is going to happen sooner than later - these forums become yet another low-rent hangout for trolls, surpassed by a "better" site that doesn't tolerate as many childish displays of egoism and misunderstanding,

or,

the authorities here finally decide not to tolerate as many childish displays of egoism and misunderstanding, and implement "features" that make it harder on all of us to accomplish that.

Do your part and stop with the digital litter.  Please. Sincerely.  Thank you.

What are you guys looking for? I'm genuinely asking. While most of the trolls are annoying to me, they do keep things going, in my opinion. If every topic stayed exactly on topic at all times, every topic would be exactly the same. Set releases, set goes on sale at various times, set is close to EOL, set is gone. The chatter would all be the same just changing set name and number. This is probably better for its own topic, but since it's being brought up here I just thought I'd ask here.

I did not blame anyone. Apparently your reading skills are poor. Although it wasn't only Emazer's touting that eol date for AA. Everyone was touting the same bs. So i simply said it how it is. Those you think they're in the know don't know jack. Truth hurts doesn't it? And people are supposed to want to pay for this garbage disguised as advice? People on here spout off eol dates as if they work for Lego and then when people follow their so-called wisdom, they get blamed for not buying sooner. Sorry i don't have unlimited funds to buy every set the minute it is released. Sorry i don't have buddies in Lego to give me sets to review and then keep. Apparently there were a lot more people than me that thought that AA would be around for a while longer. Gee, i wonder why they thought that? Maybe it was the bs being rinsed and repeated here. You know what your opinions mean to me? Squat. As Weird Al's song says, "but he's a genius in France, genius in France, genius in Franceeeeee!"

There's nothing wrong with my reading skills, thanks very much.

FWIW I never take anyone's EOL predictions on here as gospel, much less make an investment decision based on one. Something you might have been wise to do yourself by the sounds of it, but I guess you had to learn the hard way. Better late than never, as they say.

The only advice I've ever taken from emazers is that large exclusives are worth looking into and it's best to buy them before the scramble starts. Pretty sensible advice I would say. Beyond that, I just read various opinions and try to come to my own conclusions based on what suits my own situation best.

Well, TH was truly out of the blue.  With AA, I bought 13 of 'em just before EOL.  Hoped for 3 more, but that may have to do.  What I took for signs were the limit reduced from 5 to 2, the Tumbler being released (so two exclusives in a non-SW licensed theme; never happened before), and toward the end, the set being discounted at LEGO Shop at Home Europe and then selling out over there.  This left Americans with about a week to stock up from LEGO Shop at Home and Amazon, which is six days more time than we had with R2 after it sold out in Europe.

Hmm, I never saw this set discounted; got 1 from Target, 1 from Walmart with the GC deal, and 3 from SAH. Was planning to get more before the bottom fell out. My personal investment strategy is that I buy what I like. It may not be the smartest, but time will tell.

The Walmart GC deal should probably be considered a discount. Shouldn't it?

That's a good point and very perceptive that you thought Tumbler would essentially replace AA.  The latest seal on AA was around week 36 and I assume the first Tumblers were produced around that time.  Though, if Lego used some of its production capacity in a sense to produce Tumblers rather than AA, they did kind of a lousy job given the Tumbler shortages to date.

Though, it begs the question, was AA that poor of a seller that Lego didn't want to extend its production life for >2 years or was it planned that way once the Tumbler was designed?

I've been able to pick up 5 AA in the past 8 days on Amazon. For some reason I'm really just not excited about them. Just sold 1 on Ebay for $285 today.

Should I hold the rest? I'm not sure why they don't excite me like the SSD and TH do. I look at those on my shelf and see big dollar signs. I just don't get that same feeling with AA. Maybe I'm just crazy.

I don't think that it will realize the same gains as the SSD but I would still hold yours, especially because what other retiring exclusive will you buy with your sales.

I have built one and I think that this set is excellent and will appreciate nicely. It is a playset but I stuck it against the wall and you can't notice the playset features. This set also has multiple markets for future sales.

In conclusion, hold for 6 months and if you ate still unsure then you can always cash in for the next retiring exclusives, it is as close to a no risk proposition as you can get.

Ex Astris, Scientia.
