justafrog Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 Don't mean to be the "doom and gloom" attitude guy, but as Lego's profits begin to soar they also seem to be learning how to walk the customer service line a little closer. No more 10% coupons on exclusives, implementing a polybag limit, limiting numbers of individual sets...someone said the next thing they will do is limit the double VIP month to specific sets only. At this point, this honestly wouldn't surprise me. Unfortunately, because I am a glass-half-full kinda girl, I do think you're right. I do hope we both end up wrong, though, and people can point and laugh at us and our paranoia. Quote

I do think in some cases, that you should be able to get both poly bags and use the 10% off coupon on anything in the store. Quote
willy431 Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 I went to Braintree---guy with dark brown hair and pony tail--glasses. He was the one who rained on my parade. Girl was ready to give both--and use the coupon. Quote

El Guapo Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 I was able to get both...but I am skepticle if I will next time...so I just ordered online. Quote
MartinP Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 I was also able to get both when I went to the Lego store. Quote
willy431 Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 Well you guys must be working magic. Because the guy at Braintree proved to me this morning it is not possible. I bought my son a sail barge this afternoon and guy gave a choice of either poly. My son selected the trooper...and I asked why we couldnt have both. He said the system would not allow double polys. I told him a friend got both yesterday at Braintree and he said not possible. He hen showed me what happens when you try to scan both--message popped up saying one per transaction. I REALLY wanted to walk out AGAIN...but my son was with me and I didn't want to make a scene. Also---mentioned the new policy of being charged for the poly if you return the items. The receipt prints a charge, and a discount for it...where before it just showed free promo item. 1 Quote

One of the younger kids checked me out but I didnt get any Star Wars. I was in a rush go get home to watch the Pats and forgot to see if they give me both. When I bought Ewok last week, he only put the Van on the system and gave me both. Quote
willy431 Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 Ponytail was greeting today. Checkout was a heaver set guy with dark brown hair early 40s. There was a woman cashier that agreed and mentioned she couldn't give them both yesterday to someone getting an ewok and he was upset and wanted to buy the figure separately and wasn't leaving without the vw. You can't buy the promos separate. I guess they succeeded in pissing off an investor. I am only using online now...I can't deal with their new in store policies and the way they handle the situation. I guess we'll face the same dilemma when the free holiday set is available at the end of October. A letter or a long survey comment is in order on how poorly it's organized although the fineprint does say cannot be combine with other offers. The best course of action is to buy that online then return instore and pay 5 bucks for the Lieutenant since shop at home gives out both. Quote
legoman12323123 Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 Anyone able to get both star wars and camper with $75+ Purchase of star wars items? The clerk made me choose one and would not let me get both. I told him it lets me get both online so why not in store .. his response ... uhh its corporate decision wtf Quote
nolanfan34 Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 This is mentioned in a bunch of other threads, plenty of people are getting both when they spend that much. Strange they would tell you that, maybe ask a manager next time you go in? 1 Quote
Diabolos80 Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 I was denied by the cashier, then approved by the boss. Works for me, I suppose. Quote
nolanfan34 Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 Thinking about it, I took my son to the build a Castle turret thing tonight, and I saw at least one family purchase an AT-TE and get both. So like many other things it seems to depend on the store. Quote

ausleigh Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 I placed three orders on Sept 1, and each contained the VW poly. Debating whether to go for another order, or wait for double VIP...if only Lego could fix the issues with my VIP account since so far no points are registering. Quote

I guess this begs the question, what's more valuable-the cash from double VIP points or the worth of the polybag? What do people think this VW polybag be worth down the road? Quote
stephen_rockefeller Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 Looks like the moral of this story is that the stores won't do it but S@H will. Doesn't it say in the fine print that each promo isn't valid with any other offer??? Quote
kenchu2000 Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 I got both polybags with purchase of Jedi Defender-class Cruiser 75025 at Lego store couple days ago, it was an easy transaction, no question asked at all. It was in Hillsdale Mall, San Mateo, Calif. Quote

At the moment I get no points even though I am registered for it (waiting on Lego customer service to find out what the issue is). Quote

The receipt prints a charge, and a discount for it...where before it just showed free promo item.Confirmed the new poly policy! I was stewing over not getting both polys Last week with my sail barge...and went to return it. It was a girl I never saw at Braintree before. Gave barge in lego bag with receipt and she said she would have to charge me 4.99 for the poly if I didn't have it. I was ready. Said I would go check in the car---went back in with a camel and a chima set and the poly and returned all 4. Manager walked over and asked why I was so upset and returning things. I told him I would be back tomorrow with another 600 bucks worth of sets to return as I am done with Braintree. And I am. Told him about the poly situation and being asked for Drivers license to buy a crawler a couple weeks ago. He punched up my account and said I bought 4k in product in the last 3 months..and had 5 crawlers on my account and I was a reseller and would probably lose my card soon. I told him I had 15 crawlers and showed him my other 3 VIP cards. Childish I know...but I was pissed at pony tail at this point. I can probably never use VIP or Braintree store again after that stunt...but if only you fellow members could have seen his face when I whipped out my VIP cards! Told him I was heading home to check all my lego and sah receipts and would return in the morning with a couple grand worth of plastic...and to make room in the back room for everything. Time to go through some of my smaller sets and bring the fence sitters back. 90 day return policy for the win! Also note....you CAN accumulate a negative balance now. Ponytail idiot pointed out that people were buying things..using points...then returning them with no loss to point accumulation. Loser was so proud of himself about pointing that out. I bet he can't wait to get him and tell his parents what happened. 40 year old lego manager...really moving up in the world! Quote
justafrog Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 When he said, "You're a reseller!" did he do it with a sneer like an English butler would use on an impertinent tradesman showing up on the front step, or did he say it with a look of horror like you were the approximate equivalent of a kitten abductor? I really wish you had taken video. For tomorrow's excursion, I expect you'll post the whole thing to YouTube and give us the link, aye? I really wish I could have seen his face when you whipped out three other VIP cards, though. Quote
justafrog Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 In all good earnest, though, if the bar is $4000 in 3 months and 5 of a single item, a lot of us might lose cards sooner rather than later. Quote

LOLz so do they charge you retroactively for the VIP point you already spent? I think not. There's a whole fresh crew in Braintree. Some came from Natick. The nice ones are gone now. I wish I can clear the schedule tomorrow and see this live at the store. 4K in 3 months is considered a reseller? There'll be hundreds and thousands of their clientele would be banned in the US. Have they forgotten who pay their wages? Quote
willy431 Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 It is all new people in Braintree. I've been going for years and they cleaned house about 2 months ago for some reason. Burlington is the only store I like. Peabody and natick are jerks lately too. And one final picture to sum up today's adventure.... I was also highly offended at his absurd insinuation that I spent 4k on lego in 3 month! Clearly if he scanned my other 3 cards, called walmart, target, entertainment earth and amazon uk/Germany/us he would have easily seen that I have spent closer to 11k in the last 3 months on lego. Amateurs! Quote
