Hi, I need some help.  I have a few questions about ebay transactions hope someone has an answer.

1. If I posted a listing with BIN and have set the expiration date to 30 days.  A few days later, there have been over 10 people in watch list for this item, but the item hasn't been sold yet.  Now I want to change my mind and decided to hold the item longer for better profit, can I simply end the posting?   Will I be charged any ebay fee other than the insertion fee?

2. Will ebay transaction fee be same if I post an item for sale like $50 + $10 shipping vs. $60 + free shipping?  In the end, both would end up $60 for the sale.

3. If the package is delivered, the buyer received the package but saying the package is damaged, so he will return the package to me for full refund.  My question is when I received the returned item, can I still file a dispute from the shipping company (like USPS)?

Thanks in advance.

others please correct me if I am wrong, but...

1. you can end any auction or listing without penalty as long as there are no bids on it.

2. fee will be the same. they add the final sale price to the shipping charge (if there is one) and take their cut off of that.

3. I have never had any issues with this but I would assume so. others who have had this experience should be able to provide more info.

Just revise it and raise the price.

1. Just end it

2. Yes

3. Yes

Why in the world would you recommend to end the listing rather than just change the price to get what he wants?    Why not just change the price to get what he wants for it?  Is he going to get the price he wants with it NOT listed?

Probably because the OP said: "Now I want to change my mind and decided to hold the item longer for better profit"

He didn't say he wanted to charge more today, he said he wanted to hold it. The advice above is all sound.

HA!  He doesn't want to hold on to it b/c he wants to hold on to it.  He wants to hold until he can get more $$ for it...there are ten watchers...raise the price and see if one bites...Don't waste your audience.  The insertion fee has already been paid, whats the harm in putting the price you want.

You can't sell something when it isn't listed.

...now THAT is sound logic.

Holding for investment is also... sound logic.

Bottom line, your "why in the world" question has been answered. Nobody was giving outlandish advice, it's just a different way of making the money, and it's what the OP asked.

If there was SOUND logic alone in the forest and no one was there to heed the advice, would it really be sound?

1)  Raise the price and take a chance.

3) I recommend buying enough insurance amount you are comfortable with for the peace of mind.
