pat_teeth_hurt Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 There are 2 eBay bin listings for $99.89, multiples available from sellers with no feedback. Are these scams? (Sorry - don't know how to attach links.) Quote
MartinP Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Okay. So here is a link for everyone to see this. That is very interesting. The seller has 0 feedback, and it says that he has five available. This sounds to good to be true. I am leaning toward that this is a scam because of the feedback, the low price, and the quantity available. Quote
pat_teeth_hurt Posted August 30, 2013 Author Posted August 30, 2013 The other one shows 4 sold out of the 10 available. I don't see how anyone can sell this at that price and make money unless it was stolen. Quote
pat_teeth_hurt Posted August 30, 2013 Author Posted August 30, 2013 I'm tempted, but I don't want to give my mailing address to these people. That would be nice if eBay could keep your personal info anonymous from the sellers by acting as a liaison in delivery. I'd have bought all of these if that was the case! Quote
spener90 Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 I bought them all... I know I'm protected. I'm contacting eBay ASAP though. I think it's a scam, but if it is, it's a really poorly done scam. Quote
spener90 Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Update: Listing was removed. I am getting a full refund. I didn't think I was going to get them, but I figured it would be a fun little experiment to attempt to get 5 crawlers. Quote
DoNotInsertIntoMouth Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 I would never touch these - ever. Even protected or not. You just never know what someone is cooking up. Also - I think it is very important for people to understand that there are ways to redirect people to outside sites to complete checkout, even with paypal. They can pull in your paypal information and eventually fraudulently charge things to it. So yes, you are protected through Ebay, not from the outside world though. Maybe getting 5 crawlers isn't worth someone stealing your identity or your paypal account. Quote
hepcatpunk Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Exactly, why waste your time? It's clearly not legit---it's either stolen or doesn't exist. Again, if something's too good to be true.... Quote

Money was fully refunded. Took two minutes. I'm really not that upset by losing my time. Should I have purchased them, no, but I'll get over it. Quote

There are very talented and devious people out there that can turn very little of your information into a whole lot of headache. Quote
Grolim Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 At least by purchasing it and getting it refunded you've in effect removed the listing so some other poor sap doesn't get ripped off Quote

Ed Mack Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Buying from these questionable eBay sellers and drop shippers always opens the possibility of a LEGO S@H ban. If you receive an illegal drop shipped item from LEGO directly, your account will be frozen. Quote

Not to mention you just gave these people your valid name and address and ebay account which is enough unfortunately to get a crap load of other information. Quote
