Looks like I got my first ever 'drop shipment' from an ebay auction

I recently won an auction on ebay for a Sopwith Camel. A package showed up today that looked suprisingly familiar from Southhaven, MS.

Now I know I haven't purchased anything from Lego LEGO Shop at Home in the past few months so I was a bit surprised to see this parcel and its telltale shipping label. I know what labels from Lego LEGO Shop at Home look like and that's what this was. Low and behold inside was my Camel along with a Lego invoice. The buyer paid full retail price per the invoice even though I paid a bit below the LEGO Shop at Home price.

It seems I'm the 'victim' of a drop shipper. Not sure what to do now. I don't want to get blacklisted by Lego since I know they frown on this sort of activity.

Thoughts?

Also, I often receive packing slips that show a different price from the price I actually paid (because of promo codes, shipping deals, sale prices, etc.).

I just looked at one of my lego.com packing slips.  I used $10 worth of VIP points for the order, but the packing slip shows full price, no indication that I used VIP points.

Dear Lord...it has dropship/scam written all over. 10+ days handling!

Anywho, I would shoot TLG a CS email. It seems that you are basically stuck with it, unless TLG decides to take it off your hands. Do you buy a lot from LEGO Shop at Home? If you buy very few copies of sets, you should be ok.

No, just email the Seller and tell them they didn't indicate it was drop-shipped. Tell them you want a refund.

If they decline, you can get it back through Ebay - the seller violated listing policies because they said the item location was in Michigan. It was not.

Call TLG and ask them about the order - I bet they suspected something was up when it was a different name on the invoice and card.

So if I ask for a refund I have to send the set back to where?

And then I'm out the set I wanted.

Several years ago I my ex bought some Lego sets for our son on his birthday thru LEGO Shop at Home. She paid for them but wanted them shipped to me. LEGO Shop at Home kept holding up the order because the buyer's address and the 'ship to' address didn't match up. And we weren't trying to scam them. LEGO Shop at Home must have sent out a dozen emails and both my ex and I had to call them to verify what was going on.

Here we have an ebay seller 'drop shipping' a set to me with no problem. And the address on the invoice is from someone in Valley Village, CA, not Michigan. So I wonder if ebay will have an issue with that.

Honestly, I'm thru buying new Lego sets on ebay then. It seems no one there can be trusted to sell new sets.

Some can be - just don't buy it if they don't have the actual item in hand with a picture, etc.

You send the set back to TLG with the free return label.

OK, I see. Get the refund from the seller/ebay and call them on their deceptive listing (which may require opening a dispute case with ebay) then call LEGO Shop at Home to get an RA# and return the set to TLG and go buy another set from a more reputable source (like Amazon). I guess ebay will have to deal with the fraudulent seller.

Quite a bit of BS for me to have to put up with since I did nothing wrong, other than winning the auction.

Still, I'm done buying currently released sets from ebay. I don't care how good the deal is or how reputable the buyer. I'm only buying used/open sets and discontinued ones.

Fool me once, shame on me. You're not getting a chance to fool me again.
