segreto Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 I do not want to spend any money on Lego storage boxes, but my collection is getting pretty big now that my kids are amassing quite a few bricks, too. I have been building some robots with Arduinos, and started saving the lids from Jiffy peanut butter jars for wheels. When reading the Lifehacker website about getting the labels off of the peanut butter jars so that I could use the jars, too, I found that peanut butter was the solution (pun intended) to use to get that icky glue off the jar under the label. Last week I started organizing all my lego figures, and I needed a storage solutions for them. A big drawer was too big to just throw them in, so I put them in ziplock bags, which is ugly. When I made my lunch, I noticed the 'Carving Board' brand of lunchmeat come in neat little plastic containers. They had a huge label on them, but using peanut butter on them made the glue come right off, and they are clear, so they are ideal for storing items like small Lego pieces. I will post a picture later when I finish the next container. Also, these containers are stackable. I told my wife to buy that line of lunchmeat for the next few weeks so that I could get a few more containers without spending a dime. I will post a picture when I get another one going. Anyone else use free containers? Quote
justafrog Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 I recycle cardboard shipping boxes of all sizes (cutting off the flaps to make them open all across the top), and use ziploc baggies in those right now. Not ideal, but very cheap and workable as we build up our Bricklink inventory. Quote
DoNotInsertIntoMouth Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 I store stuff in either the shipping boxes or trash bags. If I didn't have a wife, it would be on the floor. Quote

segreto Posted August 10, 2013 Author Posted August 10, 2013 Here is what they look like with bricks in them. As I get more, I can replace the baggies and have stackable storage that has a little better view. Quote
